Brake dust revisited...

Which pad produces more brake dust:

OEM
Mintex Reds

I have a brand-new set of Mintex Reds, but if they dust just as much as OEM in a single week, I'm going to put them up for sale & buy something different.

I don't do ANY tracking or autox, just LOTS of spirited driving.

Current OEM pads/rotors have 21K miles on 'em...I'm open for suggestions!

I just ordered ceramic pads from Carbotech this morning for my Clubman. I am over the dust already!

if you dont like dust get the carbotech 1521 (bob cat) they make almost none. my wife has them on her r50 it has been a week and all i did to clean them was to hose them then dry with a towel also they will not cut rotors up like other pads will and they stop better then oem

How do the Bobcat and other aftermarket pads affect the warranty? Concerned about rotor wear, etc...

The Bobcats better for your rotors then the OEM pads. The issue is our OEM rotors are designed to be replaced every 50K. You may get more miles out of them, but not hard miles. If you have less then 35K on OEM rotors, replacing OEM pads with Bobcats will help you get more then 50K out of the rotors. If you are up over 35K on the OEM rotors you'll save money in the long run to replace the rotors at the same time you change the pads. You might want to think about our brake package on any MINI over 50K. Yes the all the Carbotech pads work with the brake senors.

Try EBC Green Stuff, I've been using EBC pads for more than 6yrs on all my cars. Great initiate bite and much lower dust than stock, also the dust washes off easy.

reg brake fluid is enough for everyday driving and the occasionally mountain run.

You would only need a high temp brake fluid if you autoX the car every weekend.
