UHP Tire

Hi:

I am looking for a UHP tire, that is good in the wet and dry and last at least 30,000 miles or more. Not sure what is the typical mileage people get out of UHP tires. Not looking for expensive tire, but something that is a good value. Any recomendations?

Oh, yes my car is a 2007 MCS lowered 1.25" and I have 17" rims.

Thank you.

UHP summer tires are often treadwear rated at under 300 which reflects the softer rubber. As a result handling is good but it may not last very long about 20 to 24K miles is common. You might make it last 30K but it won't be easy.

You can shop around but if you are serious about 30K miles you'd better also look at UHP All Season tires which can still be OK for wet or dry weather but handling may be a tad less crisp.

For good value tires it's hard to look at some of the big names:
Goodyear
Bridgestone
Michelin
Pirelli
Yokohama
Toyo

Look at value brands:
General
Kumho
Falken
Hankook
Sumitomo
Fuzion

For 17x7 rims and lowered suspension you'll likely need a tire that is not too tall. What are you using now? Which size is it? Any rubbing?

In 205/45-17
General Exclaim UHP $83 each 380 treadwear (good value)
Falken Ze-912 (UHPAS) $79 each 360 treadwear
Bridgestone RE-760 Sport (new tire) $105 each 340 treadwear
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport $109 each 340 treadwear
Avon Tech M550 A/S (UHP all season) $92 each 360 treadwear
Bridgestone G019 Grid (new tire- HP all season) $99 each 400 treadwear

In 215/40-17
General Exclaim UHP $73 each 380 treadwear (good value)
Falken Ze-912 (UHPAS) $72 each 360 treadwear
Fuzion ZRi $76 each 320 treadwear
Continental ContiExtremeContact (UHPAS) $95 each 400 treadwear
Kumho Ecsta ASX (UHPAS) $88 each 420 treadwear
Sumitomo HTR+ (UHPAS) $76 each 360 treadwear

Another size is 205/40-17 which is a bit smaller but OK for lowered MINI
In UHPAS:
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS $172 each 400 treadwear
BF Goodrich g-Force Supersport A/S $112 each 400 treadwear
Yokohama Avid W4S $79 each 400 treadwear (good value)

General Exclaim UHP and Falken 912 represent a good value and is comfortable for street use.

I think the All Season tires mentioned are also worth a look.

I am using the 205/45/17 no rubbing at all. Dunlop SP sport 01? the run flats that the car came with.

Thanks for the info.
