Which tire size to R85??

Hi, i have an R85's in my MCS2004, with 205/40 r17 RFT's, and i want to change to 205/45, non runflats, but im not shure if keep in 40 or change to 45. I would like to have a great handling in corners, but also good acceleration and comfort. I live in Mty, MEX. Need for dry and wet conditions, High Temperature in summer (40-45 `C), here never snows. I drive in City mostly, also roads and highways.
Also i have heard about 215/40, some people say that are good too, or even 215/45, but im little confuse, i dont know what to choose in order to get what i need.

Ill apreciate any help

Thanks

The R85 17x7" S-lyte for the Cooper S in 2004
Should look like this-

And comes standard with 205/45-17 runflats.

If I search tirerack.com for all runflats in 205/40-17 I get-
No matches.

So if you have runflats then you have 205/45-17 and you should replace them with tires that are 205/45-17 in non runflats or runflats, your choice.
You want better handling then get a tire that performs well but it might wear faster or cost more. You want a tire that lasts longer then look at Ultra High or High Performance All season tires.

If you have any 205/40-17 tires these are most likely non runflats- which tires are these that you have? Did they come with your car new?

Other sizes are possible.

225/45-17 is too tall.
215/45-17 is taller than stock and can be used if you have stock suspension and don't mind some speedometer error and odometer error.
215/40-17 is smaller than stock so speedometer and odometer error in the opposite direction and larger wheel gap along with usually firmer ride.
This size tire usually costs more, weighs less and has a stiffer sidewall that corners a little better.

Minihune, thanks for your answer. I search my tires in google, and there are non runflats. There are sumitomo. My bad, sry. Th car wasnt new when i bought it, its a beautyfull MCS chili 2004 electric blue metallic, black roof, black strips, only 20000 km.
I think 205/45 r17 its ok for me.
Now, which brand do you recommend??
Something in the middle, between perform and durability, if theres one.

Thanks for your help.

205/45-17 is best for you.

If you like 205/45-17 for best speedometer accuracy,
Then best tire selection is in
Ultra High Performance Summer tires (not for any snow)-
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...=1 7&type=UHP
General Exclaim UHP $83 each 380 treadwear
Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 $124 each 240 treadwear

I think the General Exclaim UHP will work for you.

The Dunlop Sport Maxx is a good wet and dry summer tire in 205/45/17 for an area
where there is no snow. They're lighter and more comfortable and cheaper than my old Bridgestone S-03's,
and very grippy, although I do miss the Bridgestone's crisper turn-in a little, (but sadly no longer made).
