alternative tire sizes for 15" wheels

I'm tired of the limited choices for my 15" rims. I have gone through two sets of Pirelli P3000 175/65R15. Any recommendations on a different tire size I could run and stay close to the same overall wheel diameter?

There are a variety of choices in the 205/55-15 size, and the diameter is within half a percent of the 175/65-15 tires.

You could even fit a 205/50-15, and there are lots of choice in that size, but the diameter would be off by about 3.5% (And unfortunately, it's 3.5% in the "wrong" direction, so it would add to the car's built-in speedometer error, rather than helping to cancel it out.)

Stock 15x5.5" wheels for the MINI can work with many size tires-
Search for-
185/65-15
195/60-15
205/55-15
Shop around tirerack.com (talk to alex) and edgeracing.com

These are closer to normal stock tire diameter roughly 24.3".

Then you can choose other sizes but they might be less or more than stock. Less tall will help with lowered gearing but speedo and odometer error will be present although slight. Taller tire diameter up to about 24.9" will also work with stock suspension but is not good if you lower your MINI.

Other tire sizes
195/55-15
195/50-15
205/50-15
205/60-15

With aftermarket wheels 15x7 or even 15x8 you can run wider tires but you have to watch offset and usually about 215/45-15, 225/45-15 and 225/50-15 are at the limit.
