Tires For R84 Wheels

I'm running the stock R84 wheels with 195/55-16 tires at the moment and wanted to upgrade to some wider stickier tires and was wondering what the limit was for these rims. Any help is appreciated.

I've put 205-50-16 BF Goodrich G-force sports on the track and it was a blast! Lots grippier than those runflats, it was great.

One option for street use but very good wet or dry handling with good street comfort would be-

Bridgestone potenza RE-01R Extreme Performance Summer tire-
180 treadwear
205-55-16 slightly taller than stock at 24.9" (1/2" tall) but OK with stock suspension. $109 each

Also comes in 205/45-16 for $149 each but runs with low load rating of 83 and small tire diameter of 23.2" which would increase wheel gap if stock.
This might work with lowered suspension or with track/autocross use.

Another possible choice is
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 Max Performance Summer tire 300 treadwear
205/50-16 $125 24.1" tire diameter
205/55-16 $135 24.9" tire diameter
225/50-16 $140 24.9" tire diameter

How about some Falken ZE912's sized 215/50VR16??? My bro. has 'em on his and likes them....It's kind of an oddball size, I think Dunlop makes something in that size too, but they look good and should be about the same overall diameter as what you're currently running.

For daily driving, I would stay with a 205/55R16. The Falken 912 is a great tire, but since you are looking for stickier rubber I would go with the Falken FK452. It has a 300 treadwear rating and is priced at $72 a tire. This tire is very good for wet and dry handling and it is also very quiet on the road.

What about a 205/40R16? They seem to be cheaper but how do they perform? Either the Toyos or Falkens. My car is lowered so the gap shouldnt be too bad right?

205/40R16 may increase the gap compared to a 205/45R16 since you are lowered. I would go 205/45R16 just to keep some cushion for the wheels.
