Wise to buy used runflat?
Wise to buy used runflat?
Hi Group,
My right rear run flat has bit the dust. Is it safe/wise to buy a used run flat off of some one and slap it on my car? It's the same type of tire, a Dunlop 17", etc. What do I need to look for in so far as tire wear and tear and computability with my current still good 3 tires?
Thanks for your opinions,
Tony F

I'm going to have to go with no. Buying a used tire is something I feel would cheapen saftey. I'd recommend buying two new tires to replace the ones on that axle. Replacing tires in a pair is the best way to ensure even tread wear.
I would also say no. When I bought my car one of the tires had a bubble so the owner threw in 2 used runflats he got off ebay. When i went to get them mounted they both had tears in the bead so i ended up buying new ones anyways
Seriously thinking of selling
I'm seriously thinking of selling my mini. I need to save for my upcoming wedding/honeymoon and can't really afford the car payments anymore. I need to get the wheel fixed before I can sell it, right. What would be most economical for me and safest for whom ever should end up buying my mini? Should I just replace all four tires with non-run flats? That would be nearly the same price of buying one new run flat plus installation.
