Konig feathers?
I thought I'd throw a couple of pics of my Feathers on this thread.
I started out with 16 inch Feathers in Konig's Matte sliver. I really was pleased with the fit and finish as well as the "matte" silver color. These are my weekend "fun wheels" used when I head up into the canyons. My daily wheels are 18 inch Matte black Enkei J10's. After running on the Feathers for a while, I just felt that the Silver color just didn't go with the Pepper white/ black color combo of my car. This really became apparent after completing my full black out treatment a short time ago. So, I decided to powder coat the wheels flat black. I most likely would have gone with a flat black color from the start but, Konig only offers their "charcoal" (flat black) color in their 15 and 17 inch sizes, not their 16's. Here's a few pictures of the results.

The finish is the part that will stand out the most. Visually the finishes are much more appealing on higher quality wheels. The finish will also last much longer. PGT pointed out that when he went to sand the paint off his enkei wheels (comparable to konigs), the paint was very thin and came off with ease. This is the same thing I've experience on the cheaper wheels that I used to run...the clearcoat would flake or the paint would chip. I had a set of Fliks (medium quality like konigs) and because rocks had chipped the weak clearcoat, water and dirt was getting under the clearcoat and causing all sorts of trouble.
In general, they will be much less likely to bend in a pothole as well. I've seen pictures of Rota's that have literally shattered upon hitting a pothole.
No, lower quality wheels won't turn into goo after a while, and they will probably handle fine out on the road....but I like to compare it to choosing a car. Buying cheap wheels is like buying a Kia....it's a nice low price, they take a lot of styling cues from higher end cars, and it still gets you from Point A to Point B.......... but the interior looks a bit cheap, the performance and driving experience is lack luster, and it may not fare as well in a crash.

Most people I have spoken to about Konig wheels have come to the consensus that they are plenty strong. I live in Colorado where our road quality is horrid and have hit large pot holes on multiple occasions. The wheels have held up fine. Others have reported the same. The finish is ok not the best but I bought black wheels so it dosent really matter. I used to have a set of Volks on my old car and to be honest my feathers have been just as strong as those have been. Its a good wheel and a great bargin for the weight.
Be careful with the hub-centric rings and track time if you plan on doing it. They tend to melt to the hub. So if you wan to track the car get metal rings.
I put a set of Feathers on yesterday (with Bridgestone RE960s) and I'm very happy with them. The finish looks consistent with no fish eyes, thin spots, pits, etc. If you like the look, they're tough to beat in this price range. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the chrome center cap. However, that will be remedied tomorrow.
