Which size 18" tires?

I just picked up these 18" rims for my new r56 and was wondering which would be better for daily use using the stock suspension. They have a 40mm offset. Any chance of rubbing?
215/40/18 or 215/35/18?

I would keep 215/35R18 so you can avoid messing with the speedometer and odometer readings.

Although I have a R53, to do over again I would have gone with a 215/40/18. There are two guy's in my Mini group running that size on H-sport springs with no problems. I run a 215/35/18 on M7 springs, 42 off set and no rubbing. I'm sure it will be different with the R56 but, I would think you would have more room to work with than the R53. With the 35's I really need to watch for any potholes or bumps or it could be all over for my rims.

Assuming those are 7.5" wide or larger, you could also go 225/35/18. Give yourself a bit more sidewall over 215/35 without increasing the profile.

Other thing about 215/35 is it's going to increase the wheel gap if you're not lowering your MINI. Over a half inch smaller diameter than OEM 18's.

be sure to look at the actual specs of the tire you are buying. they vary widely. 215/35/18 worked well for me

Unfortunatly i belive these rims are 7" so going to a 225 probably would be a tad to much pinch on the tires.

The 215/35's will be a 1/2" shorter than stock (195/55-16) but the 215/40's are 4/10ths" larger.

Does a 215 bulge enough to protect the rim from a person that paralel parks by braile?

If you want stock diameter, why not go with a 205/40?

205 / 40 with a 7" rim is plenty wide to protect the rim. Also its the only size that is right on the stock diameter.
