White Wheel touch-up?

OK, I've got a couple of dings and scrapes inside my white wheels from some bonehead shop I let do my alignment.
(They must have let the wheels drop on the bolts when taking them off the MINI.)

Didn't catch it until I took my wheels off to clean & polish before winter.

I also noticed some minor curb rash on 2 of the wheels.

I got the touch-up paint kit from the dealer with the matching paint & clear coat.

My question for the curb rash is: Should I smooth it first before painting?

I have a dremel tool that might work, but what do you think...too extreme?

I'm simply looking to smooth the area before applying the paint.

Any advice would be helpful.

ive never done this but i would assume you should smooth or even fill any areas before painting.

Worked Great!

Just finished the wheels.

Used the dremel tool to level the area and smooth.

Practiced on the insides first, then the outside curb rash.

Used my 500 Watt halogen detailing shop light for heat.
(It's getting a bit nippy here).

Paint went on and dried smooth.

Waited 45 minutes under the lights and applied clear coat.

Good as new!

I've done the same with mine - worked fine. (though I'll admit I didn't bother with the clear coat...)
