Wheel Offsets?

I'm confuse with wheel offsets for minis, specifically for '06 model.

I heard 35, 38, 40, 42, and 45 offsets will fit minis. Well that's great, but in my book, thats one too many offsets to pick from. I'm thinking of buying 17x7.5 wheels, so will any of these offsets work?

with 17x7.4 you want an offset of 40 and up

Go find wheels that you like the look of and just make sure they have the right offset for you.

45 would be a nice safe bet.

Hahaha just trying to show some controled judgement. Since the poster doesnt seem super familiar with MINI offsets, i doubt they are looking to go with the lower offset look.

Konky rocked (before he got some spacers) 17x7.5 et 40 and they looked great

Wheel offsets that fit a MINI will vary with-
-Suspension installed- stock vs upgraded
-Alignment (more negative camber helps to tilt wheel top edges inward and create a little more clearance
-wheel spacers- slight to moderate spacing will allow for additional clearance from inner wheel suspension parts- rubbing but stick the wheels farther out of the wheel wells and possible rubbing if the tires are stock height or taller than 24.4".
-The wheel maker- some offsets are common from certain brands selection can be limited, and which offset varies with the size of the wheel 15 vs 16 or larger.
-Presence of Big brake kit or larger than stock brake caliper (less clearance)

Basic rule is-
If you have stock suspension then you have more range.
roughly for 16 or 17+ inch rims offset can be about +38mm to +48mm but it will vary a little on rims that are wider than stock 7". 7.5 or 8" is still ok but wider means you make the offset a little less like +42 to +45mm and keep the outer tire diameter size to stock or less is good.

Once you lower your MINI and change things in your suspension then you have even less room and smaller range of offsets that will still fit. Roughly about +42mm to +45mm is safe. +40mm could be used with a tire with smaller than stock sized outer tire diameter measurements.

If you use a smaller diameter wheel you can sometimes have more options to run offsets more like +35 to +40mm but only with tires that have stock size outer tire diameter or smaller or you won't clear the inner wheel arch plastic in the back.

Why don't you post your suspension and options for wheels and tires and we can take it from there.

Also this discussion will be found discussed alot in the past- just search for threads.
