17x8 on 06 MCS?

so I really want to get the widest tires and rims for my 2006 (Gen1 right?) I would like 17x8 or even 18x8.

with that set up, 1 Will it work? 2. what tires fit on thoes rims, 3. and if that wont work , I am pretty sure that 17x7.5 or 18x7.5 is the only option, so what side tire do i need for thoes.

also, I know its 4x100, but whats the offset needed and what about spacers?

I really want a wider tire, and I hate the rim's that come with the car. (look too flowery for me).

help! thanks

You can run 17x9 in the rear, its been done. 17x8 all around works too, so does 18x8. They've all been done so just search around. I'd stick with a 215 to get a tiny bit of stretch and go with a low offset for the right stance. Good Luck...

First go to tirerack.com and type in that your MINI is 2006 (the build date- after or before 5/06?) and it's an MCS.

Then look for 17x8 or 18x8 wheels and you will see the tires that fit and the offsets that work with no rubbing.

With stock suspension you will do fine. Wheel offset about +38 to +45mm depending on the rim. 8" wide rims about +40 to +42mm. No spacers needed most likely.

For 17" rims use:
215/45-17 24.6" outer tire diameter
225/45-17 24.9" outer tire diameter
235/40-17 24.4" outer tire diameter
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 comes in these sizes for $132,$149, $169 respectively.

For 18" rims use:
215/35-18 23.9" outer tire diameter
225/35-18 24.2" outer tire diameter
225/40-18 25.1" outer tire diameter

About 24.4" is stock sized for tire diameter
