With arches.....yes, it could work. I can't promise you that your bearings can stand up to it because I'm still testing mine But i think i have like 3k miles on my low offset wheels and i dont hear any whirring yet :P
My front wheels (in the pic above and on MU) are 15x8 et 14 and my rears are 15x8.5 et 9. My rears stick out a pretty good amount, but with stretched tires and some camber I've been able to slam the ride without too much rubbing. The sportmax wheels will stick out 3 extra mm's (about) so arches may make things easier.
Fitting aggressive wheels like this takes A LOT of planning and work so be prepared for that. You can't just order up any set of tires and just bolt them on like you can with many of the wheels you see around here. You may have to play with camber settings, ride height settings, trimming the arches and wheel wells, rolling the metal fenders (my next step). I spent a good 8 months (before even buying the rims) measuring and re-measuring to make sure it would fit the way i wanted...and to this day, I'm still working on things like camber and fender trimming to get it perfect.
I also would never recommend trying to pull the look off without having coilovers of some kind. Low offset wheels on a MINI just doesnt work with lowerin spring ride heights.
