Well I guess that is ok because I have never liked CLubs..... .20 cents on the dollar if that for all Mods.... But I was young and silly doing streetrods, drag cars, boats.. I am still starting a STOCK AS A ROCK CLUB... come out all you ppl that love the STOCK mini's....
Just another thought IF SOMEone wrecks your mini by hitting you. Try to get all your money out of the insurance company... The total replacement will be a sock Mini......Or do auto insurance companies have NOW total replacement on Autos now... IF THEY do please let me know the company because I want to purchase my auto insurance from them,,,,,
I'm confident at least 90% of the modders on this forum understand the resale, insurance, etc issues related to modding. And we do it anyway. Some to the extreme.
Insurance varies a lot state-to-state - in NC, it's regulated so you get pretty much the same offerings at the same price from everyone. In other states, different companies offer different things. Some companies in some states offer riders (at additional cost) to cover aftermarket parts, replacement cost, etc. Or so I've heard.
FWIW, when I was young I was serious (not silly) and wouldn't waste money on something like modding cars. Now I'm old and wise and see the error of my ways...

Well said, Blimey. And it appears you've been boning up on your insurance education. Trying to take my job ?!
Yep, mod money is mad money. And mad mod money is REALLY mad money.

well it does make me happy to see stock mini owners... I guess I also have out grown all my prior cars that I poured money into.. take me back 10 years ago I would have my brand new mini s motor and replace it with a turbo charged 2 liter mind blowing engine.. but just a few lessons I learned is that engine upgrade is JUST the start of different clutch, trans, rear gears, fuel system, and many others.. I will just cruise and look at all the NICE MODS on others mini... enjoy the trip through the woods we only make one... thanks
If you think modding is generally a waste of money, then you must think some of these folks....

...are burning money like it went out of style. At ".20 cents on the dollar", that thread represents about half a billion dollars down the tubes.

I'm a no mod guy also. I think if you start to mod you have to go all the way - reduction pulley, air box, suspension, engine stabilizer, reprogram, etc. Once you start it is my belief that you place the vehicle off balance and will suffer early failures of components due to the stress placed on parts that were not designed for the mods, so you have to do them all. I have seen several failures when only power enhancement parts are installed and no suspension upgrades are made.

Your whole post is built around a mis-truth.
There's a lot virtue of not modding your Mini...
1-you don't have to wash it without feeling guilty
2-you don't have to park far away for fear of dings
3-you don't have to have people stare at you
But the most important reason:
4-you don't have to have to become attached to it by spending too much time becoming intimate with it...I have a Pontiac daily driver for that reason...

Lots of high mileage 15% pulley MCS's out there... that didn't go all the way are are just fine. I suspect thousands. I challenge anyone to find and provide the VINs of three MCS's with supercharger pulley, intake and exhaust, that stopped there with engine mods, that had anything other than a belt fail as a direct result of the mods. Beyond there, there are certainly some dubious parts that can cause failures... but those three are pretty standard and pretty stable.
And I'd love to see three VINs of cars where some failure occurred as a result of "power enhancement parts" being installed with a lack of "suspension mods".
