Suspension m7 Coilover First Impressions
You are correct that it doesn't locate the wheel assembly, as long as the force from the lower shock mount breaking doesn't effect the other three points, you should be able to get out of harms way, although with a lot of noise.
Personally, I don't think you have to worry. Randy has had these on his car for a while with no issues, and he drives like a mad man.

I don't quite get why you would even consider these coils if you find them so questionable. Why not just move on to something else that suits your tastes/budget/quality standards? Repeating the same questions doesn't seem to be getting you the answers you desire.
p.s. I think the quote in my sig applies here.
I'm with you about everything except that in bold...it's a hobby and it's an expensive one, but the TT is mis-appropriated Mini money.
1. You carry your own warranty
2. Expect to work on your car a *lot*
3. Know you'll hear sounds that don't seem right most of the time
4. Be prepared to annoy people by going over speed bumps really slowly
5. Spend a lot of time waiting for the next track day, or canyon run
6. Save up to buy your wife something really fine (I had to buy her an Audi TT)
cheers,

What's even worse is that because I work on my car, she thinks I can work on hers! And if there's one way to rub salt on that wound -- that I had to buy her a Vdub -- it's to be forced to work on one. I always deflect the request by muttering something about an extended warranty...
anyway, back to regular programming

I would like to address the weak weld argument......
Have you ever looked at the stock struts, I guess not because the weld is identical to ours with one huge difference, the material in the stock strut
is less then half the thickness of ours, so the chance of the material in the stock unit could fail fairly easy at first glance, but reallity is.... it doesn't.
Stock unit is mig welded, ours TIG welded.
Do you really believe we would put out a product that doesn't meet or exceed
what previously was on the car. You also always say how much you like Randy and my self, but I have no idea who you are....

And really, I'm not worried. I'm going to a track day this Sunday (yes, Mother's Day!) and will get a chance to test out that weld...
cheers,

From that profile shot, you're not running that much lower than me! I'd say you're lower at front by 3/4" at most, but only about 1/4" at rear, maybe 1/2". Those photos by Stoopid Girl at the Dragon sure showed you a whole lot lower!
Looks great, love the lip...

It does seem to be lower in real life than in those pics and that was my impression as soon as I looked at them before posting.
Now that i have actually gotten a minute to chill out from work and traveling, i will be posting my impression on the suspension, after putting 1,000 freeway miles, countless dragon miles, and countless city miles on it.
Look for that coming soon...

Can't wait for degylogik's review -- especially the Dragon part!
I have had mine for 3 weeks now, aligned and corner balanced. I settled on 2/5 clicks F/R.
I took the car for a track day on Sunday. A short and tight course well suited to smaller, lower-powered cars like the MINI. Although I have much to learn, and I am very much on the steep part of the curve, the car behaved very well with no concerns in the suspension department. I am sure it will take me a long time to get to the limits of the suspension, and I need racing rubber and racing brake pads before I can go much faster and discover those suspension limits.
For comparison, I was circulating consistently at 1'48" compared to two (!) Ariel Atoms the fastest of which was doing 1'40"+ ish. A young guy with MiniMania.com's mule (blue with orange livery) was circulating sub 1'40" by a few seconds I guess.
btw, that's my next car...!

Still working on the review.
Interesting note though, in order to run 15" wheels you will need to bend down the brake line holders on the front of the shock body. otherwise they will contact and grind into either the wheel or the tire. this is with 42 and 38 offset too.
Wheels are Kosei K1s

M7 speed does not carry these anymore, unless you are getting a set used.
