has anyone used spring spacers?

... to increase ride height? In my case I want to use them to reduce the drop associated with after market springs since I'm already scraping snow. MiniMania sells some for the rear, but they are only 1/5" thick. Ideally I'm looking for ~3/4". Maybe I'll have to machine some myself, but I'm hoping someone has already tried this and learned what works and what doesn't. I don't have the struts off the car yet to figure out if it's going to be easier to add the spaces between the top hat and the strut tower (need longer bolts), or between the spring and either the top or bottom spring perch (need to machine "walls" to contain the spring). Any other ideas?
