Suspension Koni FSD install question
Koni FSD install question
I started the install of my FSD's yesterday with the driver's side front which by all accounts - my experience too - is the hardest to do. Fortunately I don't need the car as a daily driver so I was able to stop to ask this question to anybody familiar with the install.
There are some cryptic install diagrams in the package which I could not figure them out, but they appear to outline where to put the extra "bits" that come with the shocks.
The only extra, however, that appeared to be applicable to my install was the self locking hex nut at the top of the strut (which is larger than the original item). Before I go ahead with more, I wanted to ask for guidance from anybody out there who has done this install.

Actually I was asking about all the other stuff - none of it appears to be applicable to the MCS installation, but I wanted to make sure. Am I correct?
The FSDs come with 22 mm for the fronts and 17 mm in the rear (like many other brands) as opposed to stock which is 21/16 respectively. If you have the correct MINI strut socket then it is cheaper to buy extra stock 21mm nuts than buy the more expensive 22mm Stahlwille socket to use on them.
The only other things that come with the package are the lower spring perches for the rears which are installed with the sleeve facing upward instead of downward which look more intuitive and the nylon collars that fit on the base of the shafts. If the perches are installed in the latter position it will add some extra height and the perch will not be able to sit at the correct angle.
I agree the supposedly universally understandable picto-grams are woefully inadequate as install instructions.
