TEIN lowering springs

Does anyone have the TEIN lowering springs on their car, either the S tech or H tech versions. I am leaning towards the H tech because it is only a .5" drop and that's about as much as i can do with my body kit on. I would like to know if anyone has some pics of their cars with these springs on them or add a comment on how the ride is. It would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Eric99 (?) i believe had the S-Techs and was a nice drop with good
spring rates. i think it as lower 200lb/in to mid 200lbs/in.

the H-Techs will probably be too little. if you're going to drop it,
you'll want to drop at least 1" to make a noticable difference... imho.

btw, how about you pickup 02///MCS's H-Sports (1" drop) and he
can get the M7 springs for a 1.5" drop?

Tein makes some of the best suspension componens. My wife has S tech springs on her Celica. Just watch where you buy them from. There has been a rash of counterfeit S tech springs on the market.

kenchan, what do you mean get the h-sports and he gets the M7? Is he selling a pair? I would like to do a lower drop but i am worried that a one inch drop will be too much for the kit that i have on. My tires are already get chewed up, but i figured the .6 drop in the front and the .5 drop in the rear will be safe enough. I mean i love the way are car looks slammed, but there is no way i can go too low on this car.

he has a set of H-sports (i think) but he wants to go lower. 1" is really
not that much. i have the factory Aero kit and i do fine. occassionally
i scrape the very bottom of the aero bumper(verticle part at the very
bottom) but it's very rare. ive had my H-sports for a few years now and
very happy with them. no sagging too.

the h-techs have softer spring rates, no? if that's the case even if the
initial drop is little when you're in the car and you go over dips and humps
your car will full bump just as bad unless you have firmer dampers.

s-techs have higher spring rate so more weight needed per inch to compress
but lower ride.

h-techs have lower spring rate so less weight needed per inch to compress
but higher ride.

at the end of the day, i think you're going to be about the same when
it comes to full bumping your car over dips and bottoming out your
stroke.

You are correct kenchan about the spring rates, but on my car I have 19" wheels and the tires are getting chewed up now. Do you think i should go with the S tech with the stiffer spring with the lower ride, or the H tech with the least drop but a softer ride, or do you really think the H sports are the way to go? Really do appreciate your help.

I have the H Techs, and though they aren't as low as all the others, I have ben happy with them so far

your tires getting chewed up is more of an alignment issue, imo unless
it's rubbing your fender liner. if you're rubbing your fender liner id dremel
that area first (usually rear fender arch), put 4 people in the car and
drive around trial&error with dremel until there is no rubbage. then lower
the car, finish up with an alignment if you'd like.

what wheel offset and width, tire size are you running?

Yeah its definately the inner fender that is chewing them up. You are right, i have to dremel it out, i just don't want to mess my kit up . Minimot, do you have any pictures of your car with the H tech springs on it. I would appreciate a pic of your car so i can see what it looks like.

With 19s and rubbing issues (probably offset related) I wouldn’t lower more than a half inch. All springs settle some from original height despite vendor’s (TEIN included) claims. I had the H-Techs; the gap between the tire and trim was even all around and the drop was ¾ inch after a couple thousand miles.

Peter, is it just the rears rubbing? If so, I had that problem for a while with the stock suspension. While I was contemplating cutting the fender liners, I added adjustable rear control arms to get a little neg camber and was happily surprised when it solved the rubbing problem at the same time. If you have an 05 or 06 I think you can adjust rear camber without replacing the control arms.

True for 06. Also there are steering limiters for the front for the big wheels. They're like $35 from the dealership.

I think the reason for my tires getting chewed up is that I have the aftermarket Zeemax kit on it, 19" wheels, and I am also using spacers (25mm in the front and 1.25" in the rear). I may have to dremel the kit a little bit to stop the rubbing, just haven't got the courage yet to cut my kit. I really want to lower my car, I think i am going to go with the Tein S tech springs and just drop it. If anyone has some pictures of their car with the tein springs and would like to post them that would be great.

Thanks MX100, I think the drop will be perfect with the S techs, no too low or too high. I appreciate your picture.

+1 i think they make the car look good. a hair lower
than H-Sports on the front which is a nice look.
