The best way to do it is to experement. Sometimes, the manufacturer does have a good solution, other times, you can find a better solution on your own. That's what I'm doing right now, finding the best combination of parts.

The H-Sport lower the car 1" in the front, and 1" in the rear - slightly lower than the H&Rs in the front, but the same in the rear.

Let me know if you have any othre questions.

Looks great Kevin! Did you happen to measure the wheel-arch-to-ground, before and after? (on a level surface, read: not your driveway!)

Your RG-R's look great too, nice contrast with the bright EB. If you can make an EB look stealth, you just did it!

Why does the rear drop further than the front? Wouldn't that shift more wieght to the rear tires? Being a FWD car, doesn't it make sense to have the front lower?

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I would have thought the hot setup would be to lower the MCS evenly too. I'd imagine with the lowering bias to the rear, that more understeer would be introduced. I haven't experimented with it completely yet.

That is one of the reasons I want find a way to drop the nose of the car another 10mm to 15mm.

Cheers,
Kev

With other makes, I frequently see recommendations to replace the stock struts/shocks as well when going for a new set of springs. This doesn't seem to be the case with the MINI. Is the aftermarket just not there yet or do the stock items function well/reliably with the new springs?

hi!

i recently put the eibach pro-kit springs on. the car is lowered 1.0 f, and 1.2 for the back. i am very happy with the looks, and especially the ride. no noise, and very little bounce. the car looks and feels great!

I am just about ready to get rid of every other spring I sell and use the H-Sport springs exclusively - they are that good.

H-Sport has addressed the understeer issue by changing the rates slightly from the stock set-up. They have also lowered the car evenly, 1" front and rear, which is an important issue in weight distribution for handling as well. They are the only company that has considered that - all of the others lower the car more in the rear. These springs are not ride degrading, but offer the correct stance, and an unbelievable handling change when compared to stock or the H&Rs.

For the street, I don't think there is a better set-up than the H-Sport springs with the Madness rear bar.

Randy, what are your corner weight numbers for the H-Sport springs? How do they differ from the H&R? Thanks, Charlie.

I couldn't see this in the How-To, so does anyone know how long it takes to install a set of springs? I'm guessing around 3.5-4hours but looking at the how-to that Randy did it seems like it could be quicker than that.

Just wondering.

Strong words Randy. They come at an annoying time, having just recieved my H&R's from Tire Rack They're untouched in the box, should I be able to return them if I wanna go for your H-sports?! Got pricing yet?

Also, Blackdogmini has a great question: do you have corner-weight comparisons between OEM, H&R, and H-sport?

Cheers,
Ryan

Also, why the madness rear bar over the H-sport bar (I could've sworn they sold one, but i'm questioning myself now)? Is it that much better?

They do have a kit. With both front and rear bars for $408 and the spring kit is $265. Both prices direct from H-Sport.

At this point I'm going to raise the rear on the H&Rs by using a 5mm collar made of aluminum. That should get me the even 1" lowering all around that the H&R provides once settled.

I still need a rear bar though and it seems difficult to get a clear idea of which is best? Madness? RDR? now H-Sport? Anyone?

Really hard to beat the Madness bar for the price and performance. And it also now has three hole positioning. The front hole remains the same, but the rear hole has been split in two, allowing for finer tuning.

Randy - do you have any pictures showing an H&R setup MINI next to an H-sport MINI?

The springs, as you found, are $265, but for those of you who mention this thread, I'll discount them a whopping $5 (got to take care of the MCO folks! ) The swaybar is $190.

I like the Madness set-up over the H-sport bars, simply because I really believe that the H-sport stuff was designed as a complete package - to include the front camber plates. With the stock fornt camber, the car is very flat with the H-Sport stuff, but it still has a slight tendancy to understeer. That's on the softer front setting too.

As far as how much better the H-Sports are, they are noticeably better. I had the H&R springs forever, and when I hopped in and drove the H-Sports, it was surprising how much different they are.

Here's a shot of the car on the ground with the H-Sports:

Give me a call and we can put together a package.

M3NTAL_Kev,

The drop on the H&Rs works out to be 1" in the rear, and .75" in the front - consistently. The 5mm spacer will work for balance and aesthetics, but the drop will be .75" all the way around.

I agreee with Ryan on the swaybar. For the money and performance, you can't beat the Madness swaybar.

I'll get Dave and ficcion together for some track testing again soon, and we'll take some shots of the car together. Right now, I have the LEDAs on my car, so I could take some of those shots on Friday, as that's when we are going to the track again (but DiD will be busy that day ).

Hope that helps!

Randy

I just ordered this set up from Randy ( H-Sport/Madness).I've been waiting for Randy to test the H-Sport springs and it looks like I made the right decision. Is it true the Madness bar now has 3 adjustment holes? I'm all for a little extra adjustment.

The Madness Rear Sway is 2 position adjustable. That said, there is enough distance between those two holes for you to drill a third (middle) hole if you wanted to.
