race camber plate question

i see on ireland engineerings webiste that the race camber plates will be loud and harsh. How loud is loud, and what does it sound like and when? what exactly does harsh mean when refering to these things, didnt really think they did much that could make anything feel harsh.

Also, will these ones, which have no urethane, wear out quick on the street or something?

it also says small compact desing, allowing 1 inch of extra shock travel, does that mean it will lover the front of my car by an inch (looking at you hear onasled, i know you got these ones).

I never have my windows up, the sunroof closed or the radio off, so i doubt the noise would really bother me, but still want to know what it is exactly. Or should i just shut up and buy the other ones for dual purpose cars, because that is what my car is. Is there really much of a difference in the performance between the two?

Thanks alot

I have K-Mac race plates and noticed NO additional harshness but I have GREAT shocks, KW Competition 2 Ways. At the same time, past experience tells me they would be terrible with a known "hard" shock like Leda's. As for noise, if there is an increase, I can't hear it over my exhaust but many a coilover/camber plate combination has suffered from a less than perfect installation. Frequently the problem is the center nut is not properly tightened or a washer being needed to take up some slack. The K-Mac's lower the car a little and offer the best access for top shock adjustment of any plate out there, at least some of the Ireland plates have a very limited access, from what I've heard. It's possible the, 1" more travel, means at a given height and is bump and rebound added together, which sounds very possible to me.

I would not recommend the "race" camber plates for the street.
You'd be surprised just how much dampening the factory plates offer. With the race plates, when you hit a pot hole, or even an expansion join on the highway, you WILL feel it. There will be times that you will want to look out onto your hood because you will swear that the strut must have shot up through it.. Your strut towers will take a beating and will most certainly mushroom.
The race only plates most likely will not last very long on the street as it's nothing more then a spherical bearing housed in metal.

Street driving is much more brutal an a car then track.

I did use the older Webb plates when I first started tracking. Before I trailerd, I drove to the track and it was a nightmare. It would almost bring tears to my eyes as I thought I was most certainly destroying my car, and I was.

thanks guys, i just hate paying the same price for something when i could have got something better for the same price!! I will go with the track/street ones.

I was reading the posts from earlier this year about fitment problems any word yet from people if they fit 06s? I know someone with an 05 still didnt fit well, just curious if anyone else with 05 06 had them on yet, and what they could achieve. I do plan on going to coil overs, but not for a year or so, so maybe i should just get the plates and live with what i can get out of them until i get the coilover when i can get full benefit from them.

thanks again guys
