Suspension Lowering Plan - Idea's Wanted !
Lowering Plan - Idea's Wanted !
Folks,
I purchased 18" JCW Rims (Rubber: 215/40R18) and Installed them on my MC (Regular suspension), and since then I'm like
!!!!!! Honostly, the car looks like a 4x4 to me,
!
Therefore, I have decided to lower the SH*T out of it!!
I checked number of threads with pictures of lowered MINI's, some pictures showed exactlly what I am looking for (Very Noticable Reduction In Clearence).
The confusion begins when the same type of springs on different MINI's give different Results as seen on pictures! Also, I have read that the lowering rate between the MC and MCS are not the same because MCS is lower than a MC.
Thus, my problem now is: how to pick the springs which I know will give me the final look that I want? Is it like Trial&Error Method
!!
Attached is a picture of my car (Black one with JCW Rims) and the second one is Stan's MCS, I am looking to purchase springs that will give me a minimal clearance like Stan's. (He is using; KW variante 1 coilovers).
I am considering EIBACH Sportline or Pro-Kit (Sportline have a lot of negative feedback for being too low for everyday use). Eibach Pro-Kit claim's 1" drop in front and 1.2" Rear.
Another choice would be; ULTRIK which claim's also 1" drop (1/2" for sport suspension).
H&R springs are all over the place in these forums, should I consider them too?
I dont know folks, am confused here and I don't want to buy something, install it, and then regret it! You're comments are needed.

If you want just springs I put the H-Sports on my MC before I sold it. Those dropped it about and inch all the way around. If you want more than that you will probably have to go with coilovers.
Hope this helps.

ever thought of trying to estimate the distance on your prefer car(the MCS picture u attach), and then do the measuring on your car (while stock), and pick a spring that reaches the lengths you wish to achieve? just a thought~
I believe the H-sports would only drop a Cooper 3/4". I think the M7 springs would work out better for you.

The thing is, most of the lowering values which company's post with their products are not consistance with all models. It's just another way of saying "Our spring will lower your car by xx much" but it's not always true. This has been concluded by comparing what MINI owners have actually noticed after installing and what the company actually declared.
jerjer, I thought of estimating the distance I want to lower, but the problem is, like i said before, lowering springs are not consistend with what it actually's claims.
