Koni yellows...

For those that have the Koni yellows, at the full soft setting is the ride comparable to stock? I'm about to buy a set to be combined with koni's progressive springs and want minimal complaints from the wife while still lowering the car "the right way" (shocks and springs). Hope that makes sense.

If you have a relatively new Mini, I'd stick with the stock struts/shocks. They're more than adequate for street driving and nowhere nearly as stiff as the Koni's.

I don't know that but it would sure give you a bouncy ride like those Ricers with chopped springs The Konis would be set too soft to control the heavier spring rates...

I have yellows and H-Sport springs. They are stiff no matter where they are set. I would agree about getting FSDs if you are worried about ride quality

Yellows are uncomfortable to some because of the relatively firm compression damping.

Unlike many other single-adjustable shocks, the adjustment **** on the Yellows only controls rebound damping, changing the setting to soft isn't going to do anything for comfort. My personal feeling is that there's a "right" setting for a spring rate and trying to constantly adjust the shock for ride quality is pointless.

I've heard really good things about the FSD (gold) shocks from someone who works at Koni. He said they did wonders for ride quality AND handling. At the same time though, he said I shouldn't buy them with my current springs (H&R). If you're so low that you're hitting the bump stops the shocks won't work right.

Just lower it the wrong way and you're set.

How can you know if she'll complain if haven't even tried this yet? Is this your Mini or hers?

i bought them after talking with the vendor so we'll see how it goes. my wife drives an MR2 spyder so her car is much stiffer than mine and i was kind of let down by the MINI handling. i had a 2003 MINI with KWs previously (I now have a 2004 w/ the softer suspsension) and it handled decently. i know it's apples and oranges but the MINI feels like a sloppy pig compared to the MR2 so I'm hoping to get the go kart feeling back w/o my breaking my back on every road imperfection. just to add more to the equation i tossed out the 17s w/ runflats in favor of some 16s w/ non run flats. hopefully that will help even out things a little bit as well.

the reason im concerned about it having a compliant daily driver feel is that my wife and i agreed this would be the family car (as the mr2 is certainly not well suited for the task). sick family huh?
