The big deal is that it's a ghetto hackjob, no matter how you slice it.

I guess you could say it requires some modification - I'm not sure I'd refer to it as "ghetto", though, unless you aim to offend people that may actually live there... Fact is that tiny hole doesn't provide much adjustment room, and depending on your suspension setup and camber plate choice you may have to trim to get any more than -2.x degrees (save maybe the Helix plates, but I gotta think their adjustment range is somewhat limited since they are bound by the hole...)

I barely notched mine on the driver's side and ended up with -2.2 degrees. Didn't have to touch the passenger side at all...

To each his own, but unless you're going to keep the car and drive it into the ground, I think even the trained trade in value monkeys at Carmax would notice a chopped up shock tower like that. Especially if it's only one side LOL.

True... I do plan on keeping my car as the dedicated auto-x and track car for the indefinite future so it doesn't really matter...

I've been following this discussion and sent several emails to Jeff Ireland asking why cutting was necessary compared to other brands which don't require cutting (but raise ride height). Jeff responded that they put a new design into production that allows for an additional .6 inches of bolt adjustment without cutting which gives and additional 1.7 degrees of negative camber potential, for a total of over 3 degrees without cutting. This sounds very promising and he says it will be available in 2 weeks. I'm looking for the best of both worlds. I don't want to cut my car but also don't want something that raises the ride height. Did I find it?

The picture they have on their website now looks different than the picture in this thread.

The picture you posted it the race plates, not the street/race plates. The pic of the Street/race is the same as it has been for a while.

So, what is the news on the version of their plate that does not require cutting of the strut tower?

Yes I am very interested as well. I'd like to get these ASAP.

I was at the track all weekend and I really need the plates.

Any updates here?

I'd love to get them on before my next track event at Grattan at the end of this month.

Well, I had my car aligned yesterday and watched as they had 2.2 degrees negative in the front with Ireland plates before they moved them back to 2.0 degrees. And that is with no cutting! I think they probably could have got it to 2.5 if they really tried, but I only wanted 2 so they stopped.

The first time I had the alignment done, they could only get 1 degree negative. I went back and looked at the installation directions and reoriented the orientation of the inside(movable) plate and was able to get more negative. Now it is right where I want it.

Good Luck,
Mike

Just ordered a set of the updated ones from Jeff.

They should be in stock by the end of the week or early next week; he's waiting on the machine shop.

Will install next week and report back...

Still didn't receive them so I called Ireland to follow up. Seems that they don't have them yet either and don't expect them until mid-next-week. That sucks; I don't think I'm going to be able to get them on before my next track event.

FYI... I just installed the IE Street camber plates on my 05 MCS with H&R/Bilstein Sports and I can't get much more than 0.05 degrees negative camber as the each spring hits the inside of the strut tower.

Curious if you have an ETA or any updateon them? I've been busy travelling and was sort using you as a guideline when they're available rather than calling Ireland.

Thanks in Advance,

Same thing I heard today. Now the rear control arms are on back order. I was trying to get everything done at once (yeah right) and get one alignment, but I don't think my tires can handle it. They have worn so concave that they are almost V shaped.

That doesn't sound like a camber-related issue. Too much neg camber would wear the intside and too much pos camber would wear the outside. Too much wear in the middle (as it seems you are describing) generally indicates an overinflated tire.

Didn't mean to imply that camber was the cause. I'm sure it's from toe. I meant that everything is out of wack and I wanted to replace it at once. I did the front contorl arm bushings so I know that the toe is way out. I had the rear bushings and new shocks in the garage, but the camber plates and rear control arms didn't show up after two weeks. I wanted to hold out for everything at once and do one alignment, but by now I have gone a couple thousand miles and the front tires are toast.

That is one thing that bothers me about IE. He'll leave an order in the processing phase and not tell you anything about a wait after the order is placed. this wasn't the first time so I specifically noted to let me know if there would be a delay. The last time I sent him an email saying that it didn't bother me to wait, but that not letting me know the eta was very agitating. Guess he didn't get the message. Anywhoo, hope these are great, because it's probably the last thing I order.

Excuse the negative tone, I'm really itching to get these in.

I feel your pain, 002. I ordered IE camber plates, then rear control arms, and have been patiently waiting. I did call and the guy was nice to me, and talked about shipping in a couple of days. That was last week. I'm with you on not minding the wait, so long as I am kept informed as to how long that might be. The reason service organizations have little timers, and show what number is being served is to reassure those who are waiting that it won't be too long before they get served. That's good customer service. I'm sure the IE stuff is worth the wait, but like you are suffering currently from a car that really doesn't have optimal suspension settings.

cheers,

I ended up waiting almost 2 months for mine. When they finally came they were great! I think a lot of what you are waiting for is the shop that is doing the machine work and the urethane bonding. It takes time and the shop is backed up.

Be patient.

Got them in this weekend (with bilstein sports). I think they are very nice for the price. The reinforcement the plates is worth it alone. They are a 1/4" thick vs. the stock's molded sheet metal. Now I'm waiting on the rear arms. He said they are waiting for parts.
