Is there anyone out there that offers or is working on an adjustable front swaybar for the MCS? Rear sway is not an option in SCCA stock, you can only play with the front bar....

Wouldn't a stiffer front bar just increase understeer??

in theory, yes .... I'm no suspension tuning guru but there is precidence in FWD cars for going bigger up front in SCCA stock class. From my recollection, it has to do with keeping a flatter footprint and being able to put the power down better out of the corners. I'd be interested in an adjustable bar so that I could also go the opposite way and effectively make a smaller bar. I wouldn't buy a bigger bar... I'd consider buying a smaller one..... but an adjustable one would be the best solution.

I want one too. Same reason. Racing Dynamics has one but will only sell it with the rear bar as a set. $400.

Ideally I would want a bar that was adjustable from about the stiffness of the regular front bar to the stiffness of the SS+ bar. With a step in between.

pgrmstr,

I'm working on a front and rear system now with H-Sport that are hollow. The issue is that front bar diameter. It is two postion adjustable, but it is meant to work with the rear bar - just like the Racing Dynamics set-up (which is I'm sure why they sell it as a set).

I'm afraid it would just push like a snowplow without the rear bar as well.

One option that I've thrown around is going with the front bar from the Cooper sport, instead of the Sport + the S comes with. The obvious drawback with this method is the increase in body roll - which may cause a traction issue. I have yet to do it though, but just in testing a stock S at the track, I can see that power delivery would be a problem if you go smaller.

I'll see if I can come up with something and let you know.

Randy

Thanks Randy, you guys seem to be right on top of things and I look forward to giving you all my business once my MCS arrives in my garage ! Without a LSD, I can only assume that inside wheel spin is going to be an issue coming out of tight corners, which are abundant on an autox course. With a 225F/205R tire setup and a stiffer front bar, the increased understeer may be outweighed by the ability to apply the power that much sooner out of the corners. Its always a given that the most important corner is the one leading onto a straight away and being able to get on the power early. Since an autox course is a bunch of straights connected by turn-arounds (one way to look at it) , the ability to put the power down may prove to be more important than a little induced understeer. Just theorizing here as I have yet to turn a lap in the MCS..... Looking forward to getting on course though with your help!

Jeff
