Suspension Help: Minor Mod Gone Mad
Help: Minor Mod Gone Mad
I just "finished" doing a rear fog addition to my 05 msc. Unfortunately things didn't go as simple as they should have. After doing the basic work to get into the center stack, I was removing the plug from the back of the old switches (the one without the rear fog switch). As I did that, a small "U" shaped piece of the plug that secures the plug to the switch plate broke off. I had anticipated that the darn thing would be delicate, but it just seemed to peel off as I tried to slide it off the back of the plug. That little "U" piece seems to be essential to locking the plug into the back of the switch plate.
The bottom line now is that without this "U" shaped piece of plastic locking the plug to the switch plate, the plug does not sit securely to the back of the switch plate. Consequently, none of the switches work at al - no windows, no fog light, no lock/unlock, no nothing.
The easy solution is to head to the dealership, claim defeat and ask them to fix it. Unfortunately, I suspect they're going to have to do a bit of work to solve this issue since there seems no way of replacing this plug with a new "U" shaped plastic bit without replacing the whole electrical sub harness. I'm not looking forward to the bill. Without claiming to be a mechanic but still sheepishly confident in my ability to unscrew things and usually plug things in, I'm hoping that someone out there might be able to help me resolve this delictate issue before I drop too much money at the dealership.
Any ideas?
