Picking coilovers

2013 R59S, 215/45R17 non runflats, 64k miles, 230whp/270lb-ft on a mustang Dyno.

Currently on:
22mm Front Sway18mm Rear SwayStock non-sport Package springs and shocks15mm wheel spacers all around with JCW comp wheels.
I don't/won't autoX anymore in the car, it's not and won't be competetive no matter how much $$ goes into it because of the power modifications pushing me out of stock classes and no LSD (auto trans).

As such I am more aligning it to what I use it for the most, commuting and My Rainier/St Helens carving on the weekends. The sway situation is what I consider ideal, can easily be balanced on throttle between over/under steer.

Looking at KW V1 or Bilstein B14s, $800vs $1050 respectively. I dislike and always have disliked the crashing the suspension does over bumps. The jolt when hitting expansion joints mid corner kicking it off line causing a correction of line. I love ride height as is, so lowering is not of value, in fact, the closer it stays to stock ride height the better imho.

Ideally I would like to get Bilstein HDs, but they're Backordered everywhere currently.

Between KW V1s and B14s, which will provide the more conformant ride. Nothing else out there is in contention, H&R have crazy starting force due to gas pressure and a progressive shock damping rate, Ohlins are better damping but fubar pitchy spring rates, Koni is dead to me so not an option.

Ideally I would just fit F56 justa dampers, owning a justa I find it 1000% nicer to ride in and is damn near as fast around a corner...sadly not possible.

Curious which coilover setup you decided to go with because I have the same year (manual trans) and I am looking to replace all my shocks.

After agonzing over it for a while, thinking about the "as delivered" setups, I went with option C, none of the above, because option D, Fatcat customized Bilstien coilovers are out of reach at the moment (right rear shock unavailable world wide).

R59S and I think all 2nd gens, actually come with good spring rates for my use case. Not pitchy, near the Fatcat suggested rates for a soft street "flat ride", helping eliminate pitch (front to rear oscillating).

I also don't want to lower my car, been there done that, not trying to look cool, car is already stupid low as is for a stock setup, so that was never a consideration. 225/45R17s don't fit well with lowering so, 235/40R17 is a dead end size with very limited selection...priorities.

Option C was ...Koni FSDs. As much as I hate Koni, they're the ONLY R56 damper that had a good high speed damping blow off curve without being paired to track level spring and damping rates. I don't like linear damping, I like how Fatcat does his rates when ripple reducer and the strong high speed bypass is included.

Basically, it knocks the edges off bumps, stops the car from kicking sideways over expansion joints, and gives better steering feel. Ultimate lateral grip is slightly improved, not much, but the predictably and imperfect surface grip is vastly better, meaning, old mountain roads can be taken at a much higher pace.

For reasons, I installed the front 2, drove for 2 weeks, then installed the rear 2 FSDs. The fronts provide the better car control and a tiny bit of ride quality improvement. The rears are almost completely responsible for the comfort and oversteer control improvement.

Given a $3500 budget, Fatcat Bilstein is the best option. I hate Koni with a deep passion, but they do make the best option for under $1k imho.

Also added Project Silver camber plates to the list of parts, still waiting for them to arrive. Reading my tires, I can tell -1.0 (current) is not enough for my driving, so going to go to -2 and see if that corrects the mild outer 50% wear bias I have from slinging the car around corners.

Typical Koni issues arose:
Paint to thick to slide sprig seat on, needed "tolerancing"- poor qc.
Missing spring perch on 1st right rear I was sent (got a replacement) - poor qc
***** instructions - Koni standard
Differerent size fasteners than stock (but provided) - Koni standard
Short, useless, semi-rude emails, that have zero ability to provide technical info - Koni standastandard
