Koni setup for the first time

I am about to swap my stock shocks with konis in my MCS (with H-sport springs). Can someone recommend me a good setting (specially for the rear) since it is tough to adjust once they are in? I do drive hard in the canyons a lot and I don't mind hard settings. I have H-spots F&R sways, RDR camber plates lower control arms installed already. Thanks in advance!

I think I read somewhere 1/4 firm for front, 1/2 firm for rear as a good

starting point. Might want to run a search.

Hard is not what you want. Firm but compliant is the goal.

The Konis go from full soft to full hard in 2 full turns. With H&R springs, I started in the middle (1 turn out from full hard) and ended up with 1/2 turn out from full hard, front and rear.

Consider doing the same by starting out in the middle and see how you like it. No reason to run any more firm than what is required. Dropping the rear shocks is not really all that hard or time consuming if you need to change them. You may find the middle to work very well with the H-sports.

By the way, even though the Konis adjust for rebound only, I would assume that the rebound and compression circuits are connected to some degree. In other words, if you firm up the rebound, compression is probably firmed up a bit also. That is true of many shock designs, although I don't know for sure if it's true with the Koni.

Thanks guys. Well, I manage to catch Randy this morning just before the scheduled install and went with his recommendation. Half way in the rear and one notch form full soft in the front. I had h-sport springs along with stock shocks before but OMG what a difference! I have to get the alignment done in few days after the whole thing settles but it really is nice.

I ran that rig and it is massive fun for aggressive driving. Somtimes I'd like a switch to go back and forth

I have the exact same setup and I also am about to install Koni shocks.
With the RDR plates how are you able to adjust the fronts without droping them?
Have you now done hard canyon tests and how is your setup?

Randy's recommended setting for HSport with Konis are:
Front 1 turn (mid position)
Rear 1/2 turn from full stiff (3/4 position)

yah, 1/4 turn from full hard will probably make her understeer too much.

I think 1 turn from full hard F sounds right.
Are you going to get a set?

Are you talking about the rear Ken? My Mini is quite neutral, bordering on tail happy during throttle lift. I have the HSport springs, rear camber corrected and 22mm rear sway set in mid-position. I'm concerned that if I start off with the bias towards the rear as Randy suggests, she might turn into a top

I'm installing the set this weekend. See "Winter Project"

If you're concerned that the Konis set up as Randy suggests will cause it to be too tail happy, then consider doing the following.

Set the shocks per Randy. Set the rear sway bar to the softest setting and give it a run. The sway bar is going to have much more affect on over/understeer than the shocks will... Then stiffen the sway bar if you want less understeer.

even if you just set the shocks per Randy and install, I can't imagine oversteer will be affected very much. You should be fine unless you do something really silly.

Nono, I was referring about my original post that said that I thought I
read somewhere to use 1/4 from full stiff on the front.

Im also using the H-Sport and 22mm rear sway (alta, stiff setting) with
no camber correction on the rear (approx -2.2) and still can make the
tail come around on command at throttle lift...so with you having less
than -2 on the rear might make it better to have a little more stiffness
upfront to settle her down a bit. How about starting out at 1/2 and
1/2 both front and rear and soften the front if you need more rotation?
