Eibach w/ rear control arms?

How does the Eibach Pro Kit on a Cooper S compare to a Cooper S with Eibach's and rear adjustable control arms? I have read in this thread that the ride would be better with the control arms as to adjust the camber....I guess back to stock.

Can someone explain why this is so? I am about to purchase a set of Eibach's and I want the ride to be closer to stock as possible.

I'm confused...

are you asking about ride quality, or camber? Camber will not affect ride quality, but will affect stability and cornering power in either a positive way or a negative depending upon the setting. Eibach's Pro Kit, if I remember, is essentially four progressive rate springs, more comfortable than linear rate springs. Springs and dampers will affect ride quality. If you lower the car beyond lets say a half inch, you may want to consider adjustable control arms. These will allow you to adjust camber; either back to stock or to some other more aggressive, but realistic, setting. I do not know what the actual drop will be with the Pro Kit. I suspect that there will be a bit too much negative camber, hence the adjustable control arms.

i have the Eibach installed 1st,

the ride was fine, going over small bump is actually better some how,

i than was worry about the rear camber so i brought a set of 4 adjustable.

i wasn't looking for a better ride at 1st. After the installed I was expecting to get the same ride. Instead I got a smoother ride, much better than just the eibach alone, or I would say on normal road service is way better than stock.

Ive got the M7 springs with 215x40x17 tires. I found the ride better after I installed the H-Sport links and adjusted the camber back close to stock settings.

Id guess that the load is spread across the tire better when there is less camber and makes it feel smoother.

...hmmm...

perhaps a tire riding on its inside shoulder - lots of neg camber - would create a somewhat stiffer ride. Okay, sounds logical.

Thanks for everyones input. Maybe your right Meb, its because of the tire riding on the shoulder instead of on the threads itself. I guess I'll have to get a set to get the best ride.

Do I need to get a set of 4 control arms or just 2, I just want to be able to set the camber as close to stock as possible. I don't care about other adjustments.

Are the H-sport control arms identical to the Promini control arms? What kind of bushings do the H-sport use? Are they polyeurethane like the Promini's?

i have the iebach springs with H sport control arms, i don't find that ride quality has suffered, if anything going over large bumps seems to have gotten smoother! we set the car up with negative camber for aggresive driving and i find the handling to be much nicer than the stock setup. the car doesn't dive into turns like it used to, and the body sway is gone. i would recommend it.

Ok, sounds good. I will try the Eibach's on and if I don't like the ride I will purchase a set of H-sport control arms. Do you guys have the camber settings for the rear? All I have to do is set it same or as close to stock to get the best ride?
