Chalk me up as very, very interested too, though I do have a Stahl header to deal with on my early 2003.

I tell ya what.... while I love this thread, it's really supposed to be about the OMP bar, so why do you start a new thread for this and maybe LINK it in here?

To bring this thread back on topic, I recently installed both OMP bars (upper and lower) and I can attest that they work! I will be autocrossing with them on September 15th.

I did touch down with my OMP lower brace recently, but it wasn't easy.

With stock springs and 1/4" lowering due to tire size, I scraped a 1" stripe of paint off the bottom of the bar when I entered a steep driveway and missed the actual pavement because I couldn't see it. One wheel dropped a couple of inches and scraped the bar on the pavement as I drove in.

No damage to the frame at all, because the pressure was pretty light, but it made a remarkable bell-like ringing KA-CHING sound. So I guess that's another feature - it rings, as a warning when you hit something with it...

I scraped my OMP lower bar when going over a really big speedbump the other day, but I didn't creep down the back side of the bump like I usually do... I was pretty ham-handed (or footed) with the clutch and came down pretty hard. That OMP bar is right behind the front wheels, so it is right where the speedbump landed.

I'm on slightly lower profile tires and I'm lowered about 3/4 to 1 inch, along w/ my fat **** in the driver's seat... :D

In terms of clearance, don't know from experience, but I bet LESS, at least...Do know people (Gnatster) have had fitment issues w/ one of the three USS braces not being able to install over the Stahl exhaust straight pipe...

Looks great guys. I love my OMP and it looks like you did it one better.

Keep up the good work. You guys are on a roll.

I was reading over at mini2 that the bolts are one time use only, to me that seems very unlikely, can any of you share some thoughts?

The Bently manual does state that these are a one time use bolt. Bolts will stretch when torqued correctly. I did replace mine and also used blue locktite when reinstalling. That being said a lot of people reuse the original bolts and I have not heard of any problems. The bolts are relatively cheap and can be purchased from Classic Mini with a NAM discount. For a few pennys it's cheap insurance.

Installed OMP lower brace today

For anyone thinking about an OMP lower bar - GET IT!!

I purchased one from the market place and what a great mod for the money.
Makes the MINI much more planted.
