Suspension Lower Brace by OMP
I just put the OMP strut tower brace and lower brace on and I love it. It really made a difference on fast turns and the car just feels flatter and more solid.
Well worth the money.

Thanks for the update, and for making sure it is right.
Please make a big splash when it is available so I don't miss it. I don't want to have to monitor this thread to know when it is available.

The brace that TXWerks is working on is similar to the OMP Bar found in the pic above. It is not stock..... But provides chassis stiffness in an area where it will make a truely noticeable difference! If you check out my big post on the 1st page you can learn more.

Good Morning MINI Motor Heads!
It's funny that this thread just popped up again because Mini-Madness just became an official OMP Parts Dealer about 3 weeks ago.
We have had the OMP Strut Brace installed on our Madness MCS for a year or 2 and are completely satisfied with it.
We just installed the Lower Stress Bar and "pre-load adjustable Strut Brace on a LY MCS about a week ago. Within 1 hour of driving the Portland hwys and city streets the owner was back with nothing but praise about the bars. He said basically the same thing as others have "that the road movement is pretty much gone."
Everyone who has left a comment on the bar is right. It does sit low and could possibly scrape, but if you are a careful driver as I know we all are, there should not be any major issues. But, if by chance you do catch it on something, the bar is designed to take the force and brake away.

We are in the process of adding products to our site (only 1 so far) so if you find that there is an OMP product that you would like to satisfy your Mod'itis' feel free to look the OMP site over and then send us an e-mail or give us a call with the product #/description and we will do our best to get it ordered up for you. (for those interested, we plan to carry some of the functional pedals, shifter *****, and stress braces. Let us know if you see anything else that you think we should carry?)

The more driving time I have had with the OMP upper and lower braces the more I'm glad I put them on. The car just feels planted the the ground. I have nasty speed bumps in my neighborhood and I haven't rubbed a thing.

I agree with Longboard - the PDX MINI club sponsored a 320-mile twisty run yesterday. With both OMP bars my car tracks through corners like it's on rails - a LARGE improvement over the stock car.
IMHO the two OMP bars together are roughly equivalent to a stiffer rear sway bar in the degree to whiich they upgrade the handling of the car.

One trick, for this or any other strut brace that forces the hood to rise because of the felt underhood padding:
It is not desirable to remove much of the felt, because the padding is protecting the hood from getting creased, by spreading the pressure from the contact point with the bar.
While wetting the felt with water and letting it dry works pretty well, ladies' hair spray works even better.
I used All-Day-Long Firm-Hold unscented hair spray to wet the felt, covered the bar with aluminum foil to protect the paint, and let it dry overnight.
The hair spray sets up firm enough to hold the felt compressed where it touches the bar, thus the hood is still protected from the bar with a form-fitted area of the compressed felt that spreads the pressure. The hair spray is invisible, and makes it look as if the factory molded the hood blanket to fit the bar.

That particular bar is from Ultra Racing out of Malaysia.

Not to say TSW may or may not be using/re-branding that bar...

Our second (and hopefully final) prototype WILL be done in the next couple days... If it fits, and we're going to fit it on a bunch of cars, we'll go into production. Production units will be handmade here in Dallas, TX and powdercoated in a silver/aluminum color.
I'll take pics of fitment...
