I just got some H&R coilovers on my car and I am experiencing the vibration mostly in 1st and 2nd but a little in 3rd as well. It's in the range 2000-4000rpm.

Someone must have resolved this! Help.

It seems that it took 2 or 4000 miles before the vibration set in. It is a high harmonic vibration that is only when under load. Clutch in it stops, off the gas, it stops. Mini factory guys say the problem is axel alignment with M7 springs. Or any other lowering springs. I have tried two sets of wheels and tires.
The factory guys say it will get worse, but on this thread some say it should get better.

Please repost if your problem got better
Thanks

any news on this i have the same problem started out as a simple vibration now its it more like a super shake shakes the steering wheel and the shifter alot....only under medium to heavy load usually around 3-4k is where it is most promonent. also every once in a while it doesn't do it as much.....replacing my worn cluth and tob and flywheel in a couple weeks maybe that will fix it.

As one looking to fit aftermarket suspension on my '04 MCS, I'm a little concerned reading this thread as well as the GRM article. Will there be vibration problems with any aftermarket lowering springs?

I just changed back to stock springs and it fixed the problem. As best as I can tell from hearing of hundreds of conversions from the manufacturer, no problems. So, I think that I probably have a car with some slight problem in the CV joint that is magnified with the axel angle change. It seems to have to be an individual car problem and very few at that.

Vibration still present. It comes and goes with the frequency of raising and lower the car on and off my hydraulic jack. I think it is related to axle/CV joints.

I feel the vibration on the right side - passenger side. I'm perplexed. Last week, nothing, last night, worse than ever.

I'm going too fast at the track to notice in this environment

I'm now lowered on Megans, and I get a small but notice-able amount of 'shudder' under medium to heavy load, in every gear. If I'm doing 70 on the freeway, and give the Mini a stiff push up to 75, I can still feel the same level of shudder in the steering wheel, as I do when I launch from a red light at casual speed.

So if it's an axle angle issue, lifting or lowering the front further should fix, no? My front is slightly lower than the rear, and I've been considering lifting it about .5".

Well, my Powerflex bushings are in the process of being installed. I'll let you all know...I was a little suspect about these, but it's sort of a rotational things, so perhaps not.

The cure is new CV joints, or wait and hope for the new wear pattern to brake in. You could try and raise it back to the original height, but that may be difficult to match.

How many miles did you have on the car when you lowered it?

Mini would not inspect the CV joints until I had put the stock springs back in--so I pu them back in and the vibration went away--so I left it

Hey, I really do get a kick out of your posts - is your spelling an issue with just typing or do the words you type appear right purely because they seem phonetically correct?
Not trying to be cruel but you singularly have outmatched the worst of any spelling bee I've ever read.

Friend, keep posting, you bring great hope for the future of our next generation.

I replaced the entire axle and CV joints on the right side about 6 weeks ago. The problem is completely gone. The entire job took 1.5 hours from setup to cleanup. Getting to the bolts that hold the intermediate shaft bearing is the only hard part. curiously, the manual states that the tranny fluid must be removed. I chanced this and nothing came out when the axle was removed...but the car was jacked on the right side...

The axle and CV joints are sold as a unit - $430.00 plus a $30.00 core charge.

Has anyone with this problem installed adjustable camber plates to see if the angle of the CV joint and subsequent vibration can be dialed out?

I have adjustables, but that didn't seem to change anything. For me going to lighter wheels/tires helped more than anything.

I put my lighter wheels on and it did make a difference. I guess I was hoping it would be gone.
