Suspension Kenchan - you were on the mark about toe in
Kenchan - you were on the mark about toe in
Our lexus toe-in was way off (-) and it wore out the inside of the tires real fast. I don't have the specs in front of me but I recall it being -.20 degrees off front and rear. I can't figure out how that could be since it's not modded in any way. I am pretty sure I didn't go over any severe potholes. It was aligned when I changed my wheels around 5k miles ago.
Any clues why this happened?

meanboy- It could have been bushings wearing out or the alignment
place did not torque down the bolt/nut enough....but then again...
when you get an alignment, almost every time the customer will notice
that the steeringwheel is cocked to the left. It's from the crown of the
road...but people would rather have a straight steering wheel than a
perfect toe setting, so the alignment place will compensate toe to
lessen this effect to rid customers from coming back to complain...
alignment is a very tricky process.

Kenchan,
Thanks for the input. I suspect the bolts must have loosened itself because before the last alignment I went 48k miles without any tire wear issues. I had it aligned with different wheels and that's when I had alignment issues. I'll keep a close eye on the problem since I just had some Proxe 4 tires put on them. Nice grip and quiet too. Not sure how they are for max performance but for a big lexus it's fine.

meanboy- if you're real ****, take it into another alignment shop and just have them take measurements (usually approx $40). most likely,
you're going to see different results from what your last shop did.
They give you printouts of Actual and Before, but not once have I
received the same data when I had the car measured the second time...
even at the same shop within 4 days!!!
its just the way they
are.... unfortunately.
