Tire size question

So let me 1st say, please forgive me if this has been covered to death somewhere on here but during my search i couldnt find the info i need on a stock setup.

i was wondering if anyone has put 215/40/17’s on in place of their 205’s? And if they needed spacers to do it? I want a wider tire (both for looks and grip) but the front suspension looks tight up there even with the 205.

the car is a 2011 R57 with stock 17’s (the black mesh ones with the stainless lips) and the suspension is also all stock. Im not going to ever lower it (mostly because im done having to slow to a crawl over bumps lol).

does this seem like a fit?

thx in advance for the help

Go with the 215/45's.

^ yup, far more choices at 215/45. That's what I have and I'm lowered, no problems.

I've had 215/45-17 for a few years now. It's the perfect size.

Sorry, accidentally ended up in wrong section. Obviously my car is a 1st Generation MCS. In any case, here is how a 215/45-17 looks on stock 17" MINI wheels:

Another +1 for 215/45X17. I ran them with stock and aftermarket wheels on my R56 without a problem. Same tire I have on my F56 too.
