Adjustable camber plates

I have an R56 JCW with Koni yellows fitted with OEM JCW red springs and bespoke fixed camber plates giving - 2.1 degrees camber.

But I want more camber for the track.

With a factory size spring I have read 2 degrees of camber is the max you can get. Is this true?

I remember having to drill out the hole in the spring perch to fit the Konis from maybe 12 to 14 mm.

What option is required for Vorschlag?

Will Ireland Engineering just drop on the Konis?

Will I get the 3 degrees or more I desire?

Returns are difficult as I am in Australia.

Vorshlag's will get you to -2.5, but is it worth the cost after shipping to Australia? This would be one of those things where I would weight the -0.4 degree gain over cost. Are you truly driving at the limit to spend that much more dough? Let's be honest, most people are not

But in all honesty, please let me know if you have question. I did quite a lot of track work with my old R56.

Shane thanks for the reply. For the cost to Australia (about $800 Aus), no, .4 degrees of camber is not enough. Vorschlag and Ireland Engineering both advertise over 3 degrees.

But yes I am getting closer to the limit every time I venture out.

Have a look at Lakeside Park Raceway in Brisbane on Google earth. Almost no runoffs should you get into trouble. It had the rep of destroying an average of more than 1 road car a week for a while. Obviously people who run out of ability and usually a result of turning in too early. Or so I'm told by someone who would know.

So did you get rid of your Mini? You were all over this forum not really that long ago.

It is worth considering Kmac. They make plates for the mini, and they are based in Oz, so easier to return etc. They are a good product, probably not quite as schmick as Vorschlag, but they do the job.

I have had a set on my R56 race/rally car for 4 years with no problem.

The problem getting more than around 2 degrees is the top of the strut fouling on the hole in the top of the strut tower. This varies a little depending on the shock design. You can get more camber, at the cost of caster, but this is not a good thing necessarily.

Robbo, thanks for putting me onto Kmac. I'm going to get onto them.

I actually thought of sending you a PM before I made initial post here.

or try to find a set ( new or used ) of front coilovers with camber plates. Should be able to get all the neg. camber you want then.. Also Green Performance is designing as set of adj camber and caster plates which will allow you to not have to run as much neg camber but have the handling as if so... With the adj caster you won't need as much neg camber built in..

Oh sorry, I meant the price premium from having -2.1 degrees camber to -2.5 degrees. Either way, it's only money right LOL!

Yes, MINI is long gone. Drive an Elise now.

was going post this. These cars don't come with a lot of caster, if you can add any it's not a bad idea.

Those Kmacs advertise Castor and Camber.

Apparently Pedders made a coilover kit for the Coopers. He didn't know if they are still available but they came with fully adjustable top mounts. He said around $2100 fitted from memory.

Bought the kit from Kmac. Yes apparently you get caster and camber adjustment. Will get the camber I want I'm told. Bought the street/track so not too much NVH. I hope.

I heard that the K-Macs are noisy. My local Pedders said they got some in and got stuck in a big argument between the customer and K-Mac about the noise.

He didn't say which ones. And it was only after I looked K-Mac up afterwards that I saw there were three stages. Next time I am talking to them I will ask again.

I bought the stage 2 road and track.

What a waste of fkn money.

Installed by professionals and get shitty 1.8 on RHS side and 2.1 on LHS despite KMac promising over 3 degrees.. I personally spoke to the man at KMac and the stupid ******** could have advised I wouldn't get 3 degrees with oem size springs. Deceitful bastard.

Installed the camber plates...feel a little stiff though otherwise its fine no bearing to replace and seems solid, i just replaced my daughter VW Beetle front suspension and similar design spherical nut. The only issue is the alignment had to grind the top to adjust camber....FYI

OP, did the camber plates raise your front ride height any?

I have Koni Yellows and Swift Spec R springs installed. Have SPC Camber plates sitting around. But 1 it seems that the center of the plate would interfere with the Koni adjuster. 2 it seems as tho it would act as a spacer and raise the height.
