JCW Strut Brace Help

I am beyond confused. I have a 2013 R56 S and I wanted to buy the JCW strut brace, something pretty straightforward and basic, right? Well, the dealer tells me that it won't fit and therefor will not sell it to me. I cannot for the life of me find out why it won't fit? It's not an F56, it's an R56 and the R56 chassis hasn't changed (as far as I know) since 2007? Does anyone know what might cause it to not fit? It even says it will fit on the MINI accessory website. Was there a change in suspension or shock tower design?

Any help would be awesome

My understanding is that the JCW brace will work with any gen 2 car. It is the GP specific strut brace that cannot be used on anything but a GP. Is your dealer looking at the correct part number?

As far as I know, yes, they are looking at the right part number but I will double check when I take the car in for service during this week. Worse comes to worse I will buy the JCW brace (non-gp) online and test fit it. If it doesn't work I will just return it. It's funny that the dealer will not sell me the part though. Thanks for the input!

You might look on ebay, sometimes they are cheaper. That's where I got mine back in 2009.

I can sell you a JCW brace for your MINI that will fit. It may just be the vacuum line that is why they say it won't fit.

But you should look at the NM Engineering Tie bar as it is much stronger and will be more likely to give you a noticeable improvement.

Personally, I have the Alta intake on but I know that it clears the cross bar. I guess aftermarket or online is the way to go. I took a look at your pictures and don't see any reason it wont fit on other model years... The engine bay has stayed practically the same.

I guess my confusion comes from it just tying one shock tower to the other, and it bows up to clear the intake, so the only way it wouldn't fit is if there was a change in the shock tower design. I will post info when I figure it out. Not that anyone here is interested, but maybe someone will be asking the same question at some point.

i think there are some intake/intake covers that don't clear. so if the intake is tall, it wont fit. shock towers are the same

For some reason Mini shows a production cut off at 7/12 but i can't imagine why it would not work on a 13. I had one on my 2011 with a DDM intake with no issues what so ever. We have them listed at $213.80.

JCW upper box and strut brace. Cleared everything just fine with some clearance left e.g., I can unplug the MA sensor, fuse box & the vacuum hose from the valve cover (passenger side) that is connected to the manifold easily.

There's plenty of room, and may I commend you on your fantastically clean engine bay

Thanks! Learned that from my dad... keeping the engine clean at all times. I think he's right!

Has the feel of the car changed? If so, can you describe it?

Fitment has to do with your CAI and the hard plastic line for your power brakes which can be solved with some brass plumbing fittings and braided S/S line with A-N fittings. Whenever you mod a part always be prepared to do a couple more things to make it work.
