The ride feel won't change as far as harshness is concerned. At least I've never noticed any difference with the bars I've used on cars.

Too bad he quit selling the 24 mm bar. My guess is he just didn't sell enough. Most people tout 22mm bars going back to the R53 and just won't try anything new. These cars are heavier with more body roll and really do excel from the addition if a heavier bar.

 

I'm making an appt. with my MINI/BMW guy and was wondering which setting of the 2 on the Way did you go for and how is is the ride any suggestions

 

Put it on the most aggressive setting....been a couple of months now....huge difference....feels almost as well as my R53 darting around.

 

For anyone thinking about doing this, I highly recommend it, I'm no expert but my impression is it tightens up the car,it's flatter through corners, I have the standard suspension, and that feels like it's more effective. Great low cost mod that really makes a difference, thanks for the advice

 

I have installed the 23mm from VIP about a month ago. At this point I do not recommend it as it is too thick and makes contact with the sub frame on certain roads. It can get pretty loud and annoying to hear the chatter of metal on metal on bumpy roads. I should have went with the 22mm.

EDIT:

I contacted VIP and they stated I was the second Paceman owner to have this problem. They are sending me spacers for the d-ring mounts to raise the bar off of the sub frame. Once I get these and install I will report back. Hopefully this fixes the problem as the VIP Bar is really good quality and the car handles great with it.

 

Good to know and thanks for the heads up. I'd seriously considered this bar since the WMW 24mm bar is no longer for sale. I really wanted something more than a 22mm bar. Please keep us posted! Interesting since the VIP bar is the same for the CM as the PM and both cars are the same underneath. I'm curious if any CM owners have had the same issue. I don't know of any difference in the two models that would make this noise occur on the PM and not the CM. Is your PM an ALL4?

This makes me wonder why the Way motorworks 24mm bar was discontinued. Lack of sales or subframe interference?

 

Spacers came in two days from AZ to GA. Can never trust the post office, but this time it was super fast. VIP put them in the mail within an hour of me emailing them. Installed last night and the noise is gone. Car is perfect now! Really impressed with VIP Customs!

 

For you All4 guys who replaced the sway bar, I'm curious as to what it took to do the job. I'm not anywhere close to a newbee to mechanics. I have a 2 post lift and every tool imaginable. I'm just new to the MINI side of the world. I've ordered a NM 22 for my JCW R60 as well as their Torque insert.

 

Thinking about doing this to my All4, but looking at the WMW bar. Did you get the sway bar installed yet? Any special tools or trouble spots to note?

 

Nope. I got a 22mm from
NM but am leaving on a 2 week 5000 mile motorcycle ride this week. I'll tackle it when I get back.

From what I've researched, no special tools. Having a lift will help emensly I'm sure though.

 

Following up, I ended up with the 22mm from Way.

However, for various reasons, I never got it in the car. Now the lease is almost up, I'll have to put it in the next one...

 

I just ordered the 22mm from NM, I was wondering what setting should I start off with?

Would emergency violent lane changes still be safe with this sway bar? I don't wanna spin out with snap oversteer!!

 

Anyone recently replace their sway bar? After making a mistake and ordering DDC on my F60 JCW, I need to think about replacing the sway bar that will come with it.

Any thoughts on upgrading the F60 JCW sway? I'm thinking or ordering the 22m from NM.

Also, what should I expect the cost to be to have this installed by a local shop?

And will this have any impact on my warranty?

 

I just put the VIP (at the center setting) on my JCW and it's completely transformative. The car is much more neutral, and it feels like 500 pounds immediately vanished. The car is much more entertaining to drive in the twisties, and there's no penalty whatsoever. Even with the winter all-seasons on, the car is a blast.

 

I have a 25mm rear sway bar for my ALL4... haven't installed it yet, but from the sound of the 23mm and 24mm, the 25mm should do well!
