I have H&R springs currently witht he stock non sport shocks. I am thinking about getting shocks and am looking at either the Bilstein Sports or the Koni Yellows. Question is, should utilize the existing H&R springs that only have about 15k miles on them along with one of the shock options, or start all over and go with BC coilover? Is it worth the extra $360 or so to go with the BC? Street with 1 or 2 trackdays every year. Thanks!

 

The springs would be fine to change over, most name brand springs hold up very well.

The advantage of the coil overs is that you can adjust the ride height and corner balance the car. They can also give more clearance on the inside of the tire/wheel, if that is required.

You can get adjustable shocks in a coil over setup, or in a fixed spring, so I would expect that shock performance would be comparable. I'm sure that you can get better dampers in a coil-over setup, but in the $1000 range, performance would be similar.

The big questions: How low do you want to go? Do you need to corner weight your car? Do you want to lower it at the track, then raise it to drive home?

I went springs/shocks over coil overs because I would probably adjusted the coil overs once and then.... I don't track much. Decide what you want to do, can afford to do.
