Question about different coils

I am planning on purchasing coil overs for my mini in the spring and i have just a few questions before i pull the trigger. Incase anyone is wondering i did search

I have found a couple sets in the $900-$1,000 range, these include
1. Megan racing coils
2. Ksport Kontrol coils
3. D2 RS coils
4. ST coils
5. BC racing BR coils

I have found that most prefer the BC to megan due to better build quality so those are kind of out of sight.
I havent heard of the d2 RS coils or the Ksport kontrol coils so if anyone has any experience with them i would love to hear it
The ST coils dot come with front camber plates which is kind of a set back because i would have to buy front plates along with control arms

the car is my DD so i need something that is not unbearable to drive around in, especially on new englands awful roads. I plan on doing a track day or two each year, and im looking to lower it to lose wheel gap, not looking to have the wheel go below the wheel well

As of right now im leaning towards the BC coils but i am open to suggestions and any help is greatly appreciated

I would also be interested in the results since I am also seeking to buy coilovers this spring.

You said you have questions, but you didn't ask any.

I have had both H&R and BC coilovers. I like my BCs very much.

What are your goals? Its hard to recommend one over the other without knowing what they will be used for. Street and track? Aesthetic goals?

Also just to be clear you don't need to buy camber plates for the STs. They offer certain performance advantages but they aren't necessary.

I am getting a set of BC racing coils around March time.
I was going to go the ST route but I will like the adjustable dampening and the camber adjustment.
Plus they are painted gold haha

My mini from the fall on H&R coils...
Lots of mods waiting in my basement

STs are likely to be a little more comfortable for a DD. BC will likely have a slight performance advantage. STs have a 5yr warranty, BC is only 1yr.

I have BC and I wouldn't switch to anything else in the price range. There are other more more expensive coilovers I'd rather have but at this price point I think they are the best value.

Of the ones you listed, I'd recommend the STs. They are essentially a mild steel version of the KWs. A couple of the other brands have come in and out of the shop. They tend to work well when new but fail and leak quite quickly.

Boy oh boy coilovers are one of those things that you truly get what you pay for. If you're getting a set of coilovers with included camber plates you should be asking how the cost is so low compared to the competition.

This topic has been discussed thousands of times, and if my memory serves me well, all of them come from the same manufacturer.
Interested if there are new information

There might be one or two that do, but not all.

Wow this is exactly how rumors start. You said the build quality of the BC's is better than the Megan? Don't know where you heard that but they are the same thing. I actually prefer the Megans due to price, and BC cuts up the rear shock mounts for some unknown reason.
As for the ST's they are great and the highest quality with longest warranty out of all you listed. If your not tracking the car all the time you really may not need camber plates so consider that 1-2 times a year is not tracking often at all.
With ANY of the coilover setups you will need some rear adjustable control arms so factor that in no matter what.
YES stay away from the Ksport, and D2 quality and support are none.

As always, good to hear facts from Way. I read a long time ago that BC´s look like better built. This is was an opinion.

You can also look into adding Swift springs to the BCs. All of the research Ive done points to the dampers as being pretty good, but the springs themselves being of poor quaility. Adding the much higher quality Swift springs apparently does wonders for the BCs

I'm pretty happy with my ST's. They are a bit stiff on bad roads, but I imagine anything would be. When the road surface is reasonable, they ride nicely and the handling is fantastic. I haven't had them for a super long time, maybe 10k KM or so, but no noises or issues.

thank you everyone for your input, putting ways comment in im probably leaning towards the ST's. glad i made this thread to put everyones opinions and thoughts together im sure it will help a bunch of people when it comes time for them to buy coils.

question about the ST's quick, does the lack of dampening adjustment affect anything? i assume if they cant be changed they are ok for daily driving?

Nothing, as you said, they will be for DD. I was thinking on the BC/Megan for damper, height and camber adjustment, but I go to the track at least once every month.

ST's are great for daily driving. It is actually what ST had in mind for this line of coilovers.

I plan to hit the track this September and I want the STs badly but I still have the Megan's stuck in the back of my mind because the chamber plates. But I hear it should be okay with the STs on the track a few times a year. So I think you should be fine.

Question to others, could I add chamber plates to my STs?

The ST coilovers seem to be just like the KW V1 where they use the same size upper spring perch. When you go to a company like Vorshlag for camber plates they make the camber plates for what coilovers you have. So yes, you can add them later.
