Suspension Help Needed: R56 Camber plates KMAC vs Ireland Engineering
Help Needed: R56 Camber plates KMAC vs Ireland Engineering
Hi Guys,
Firstly, I have used the search function, but sadly I cannot get my answers :(
I need some camber plates. I have 17x8 et 20 Rotiform BLQ's fitted and I need around -3 deg camber to tuck the tyres under the arch....
I am from the UK - so that will mean ordering from you guys in the USA as we have next to choice this side of the pond :(
Anyway - I do not have the ££ (or should I say $$) to drop on Vorschlag plates. I also run AP coilovers, so it does not make sense to spend serious money on plates which will cost almost as much as my coils did in the first place!
So - after looking online, I have narrowed it down to two choices:
KMAC:

OR
Ireland Engineering:

The benefit of the KMAC's is they give caster adjustment too. However, they state that "These will ONLY fit cars with coil-over suspensions that DO NOT USE the factory upper spring plate" now I have no real idea what that means. So my question is, do AP coilovers fit into this category or not?? They are the same as KW V1 coilovers in their design and look like this:

In terms of the Ireland Engineering 'Stage 2' camber plates, I have seen that they will work with "factory type springs or 2.5" ID springs and adjustable coil over systems" can someone confirm that I am right in thinking they would fit with my AP coilover set up?
My preference would be the KMAC plates, but I would be happy to order up the Ireland Engineering ones if thats my better soloution?
My car will never be tracked is is not driven hard (its a diesel Clubman with wide wheels!) I simply need these to tuck my rims which will then let me lower the car more...
I need to be 100% before ordering as returning the item really is not a possibility when it is being shipped from the US!!
I'm hoping someone can help me as I really need to order these ASAP!!

Interesting that you think that K-Mac comes from the USA.
So it leads me to believe that you have found the K-Mac kits listed on an US site and not seen them on the K-Mac site, is that correct?
www.k-mac.com is the place to look at K-Mac products, when you go to the listings (there are three) for the R56 camber and caster kits you find no such message about upper factory spring plates.
The direct link to the Stage 1 kits is:
http://www.k-mac.com/pages/newprods/Stage_1.htm
For your usage, they are probably just what you need. Stage 2 are more glamorous but dearer.
