New JCW suspension question

I'm getting ready to order a 2013 JCW roadster and I am wondering whether it is better to order the JCW sport suspension or aftermarket springs or coil overs. Any thoughts on value vs performance?

Actually, it is called the JCW Sport Suspension.

I was seriously considering ordering it, but my MA actually discouraged me from doing so. Like walk0080 said, it's a dealer installed option. As such, you not only have to take into consideration the cost of the suspension itself, but the labor cost for installing it. I was told by my MA that I should considering going aftermarket since you get more bang for your buck. That's my plan.

Thanks for the help. I talked to my MA today and he told me that the dealer would install aftermarket coilovers for the same installation price as the JCW Sport Suspension parts. Given that the JCS Sport Suspension parts cost $1,300, other contributors to this forum have convinced me that I can get way better parts for that price. Thanks again!!

What I should have done was and would urge most people to do is order the Factory Sport suspension and then upgrade the rear sway bar.

I opted for the standard suspension with the goal of getting the JCW suspension installed but it was over $2700 installed at most dealers and I just could not justify it. I now have the standard suspension with upgraded rear sway bar and will be putting on Koni Sport shocks with stock shocks.

Get the sports suspension, the standard is a little soft. Some people think its not soft but a lot do.

Wish I woulda have done the same. Nice thing about the sport suspension is its inexpensive and gives you a larger rear sway bar.

I have the stock sport option in my JCW. Can't really complain, good for what I need it for. Might upgrade later on.

The JCW suspension parts only became available for the Coupe recently, and are never going to be available for the roadster per Motoringfile. My dealer could not tell me anything more other than to say Motoringfile has a history of being correct. Has anyone been able to obtain JCW suspension parts for a roadster?

Ps. It's still $500 for the sport suspension and $1307 plus labor for the JCW sport suspension on the configurator.

You could probably get them an have em installed by and independent shop, but MINI probably won't warranty them the same as they would other parts since it wasn't meant for your car. Suspensions on convertibles/roadsters is usually a bit softer as the rigidity isn't the same as a hardtop and there is less chassis flex and judders with the softer suspension. I'm sure there are other aftermarket options out there as well.

That price is a ripoff. I think I paid $1700 installed for my JCW suspension.

I wouldn't really worry about that since if you have a shop install aftermarket parts, the dealer wouldnt' warranty them either. So you're in the same boat either way.

Is the sport suspension in the fJCW the one listed as "sports suspension settings"? I think it was option 226 in the order options.

My dealer is really pretty good about that actually. They will honor the MINI 2 year warranty on official parts that are installed elsewhere. Depends on the dealer
