KW V3 and SPC CA Review

All I can said is WOW Almost zero body roll, razor sharp steering, more power transfer to tires. After picking the car up from the tuner shop, took the car for testing at Germantown (famous for twisty roads) Put around 40mins testing the handling and ride.

Impression:

Totally transform the car, the handling is confidence inspiring now, it handle like my friend's JCW Hatch. In corner speed wise, they are very similar now. The JCW Hatch power to weight ratio and brembo brakes is better of course. But with more tuning (ECU Flash, full exhaust system power will be better for the CMS4)

I had Dynasport set the stiff and rebound at 70%. The ride is actually better IMO, less mushy and floating feeling comparing to stock. It feels firmer of course but never uncomfortable. I will keep this setting for a few weeks then dial it to 80% then to 90%.

Attached picture of before and after the lowering. Love the way the car looks and drives now. Overall if you are looking to transform your car's handling from so so fun to extremely enjoyable driving, then the KW V3 is for you. Highly recommend to all CM owners.

I went to the extreme by lowering it so much, the beauty of the KW V3 you can fine tune to exacting what you want, from getting a 1" lowering and stiffen up the handling up a bit to carry your kids around and still have funnier car or someone like me who are track junkie and want to squeeze the most out of the car's chassis. This system does it all, worth every penny

Next ECU Tuning, Cravenspeed SSK, BOV Springs, Full Exhaust System

Big thanks to Kris for getting the KW V3 out to me on short notice and Ryan at Dynasport for setting and dialing the car in so perfectly.

Tks all, I think it can go down another .5-.75 of inch. Thats as low as I want to go
Once I figure out what rims to buy, I need to becareful on buying tires with round side wall edge only. Hope the Michelin PSS have round side walls.

Looks great! Thanks for the review. These will definitely be on the list for Kowalski. By the way I've done the ECU tune, BOV spring, and full exhaust along with many other mods so if you have any questions just PM me

Np, Which ECU company and exhaust did you installed?

My BOV spring should be arriving shortly

Exhaust looking at Supersprint, I had them on my other car and really love the sound.

Did you notice any huge useable power in the normal rpm range? 1st gear feel SO slow/lack off power IMO

I believe ST has a V1 and V2 series that are somewhat less expensive. You DO lose some of the "adjustibility" however (IIRC -- jounce on the V2s, and jounce and rebound on the V1s).

I had V2 on my other car, a bit too stiff for DD IMO. With the V3, I can fine tune the suspension to exactly what I want.

Can you tell us where ST has a V1 and V2?

ST V1

ST V2

KW Street Comfort

For availability, you could contact Suspension Techniques (KW of NA) or check-out THIS dealer map. I don't know whether the NA dealers carry the V1, V2 and Street Comfort variants along with the V3, so your call to KW of NA should yield better information. Also, the V1, V2, and Street Comforts may still be awaiting the Countryman fitment specs.

I am particularly interested the the Street Comfort product. I don't want to slam my CMS but would like a bit of lowering and a rebound-adjustable setup. The Street Comforts lower your vehicle a minimun of .4 inches (10mm) to a maximum of 1.6 inches (40mm). Note that this is a "general" spec and that the minimum and maximum may vary depending on the vehicle fitment.

HTH,

KW owns ST
KW offers 3 series of coilovers plus the ST line.
KW V3, adjustable height, rebound & dampening
KW V2, Height & Rebound Adjustable
KW V1, Height Adjustable only
all of the above have a Lifetime warranty & SS bodies

the ST coilover is the nearly the same as the KW V1.
It has the same exact specs & internals Except that is uses a heavily galvanized body & comes w/ a 5yr warranty.

*Currently there is only 1 North American offering for the CM, the KW V3.
KW products are manufactured in Germany. KW will not release a product w/o 1st doing actual vehicle testing.

the V3 specs may state a 1.6" drop, but clearly the above actual image shows a drop much more than anyones 1.6" springs, even the Cobra's.

What was the part number for the SPC CA? Is it 5.67610K?

Eddie, It's 67610, yes.
I may go that route since (well you know) , Keith
LMK if you'd like a set as well.
Dropping off the CM tmrw for my Resistall treatment. "it only take an hr." this protective treatment seems like a gimmick to me, I think the fee was more as 'insurance'.

I am ordering my rims as well this week. I think 19's & its narrowed down to 2.

back OT.
KW's are great, cheaper options will come in due time. The ST's are a great alternative & tuned quite well for a DD.

Just finished a 360 miles road trip, I have to said, the ride is SO much better then stock. Even at 7 out of 10 for stiffness, got better gas mileage too, got 436 miles till empty and much funner to drive, overall love the investment I made.

Smithwerks mentioned the correct SPC CA

My drop is more then 2 inches and still VERY comfortable ride, once I get some Michelin PilotSS the ride and handling will be even better

They most likely will some day but not yet. I'll make sure to let everyone know once they are.

@Kris --

Any idea if ST/KW plan to bring the Street Comforts into North America?
