Suspension What suspension is this?
What suspension is this?
I just bought my Mini a few weeks ago and I would like it to be a little lower so I removed the wheel to see what the set up was. I found these Koni yellows but what springs are these?
Also it appears these are NOT adjustable....correct?
So would these be coilovers but not adjustable coilovers?
Also the other day I was driving with the family in the car and my daughter (about 95lbs) was in the rear passenger seat and over hard bumps I could hear the wheel rubbing. I cant see any evidence of rubbing in the area but I did notice the spring is rubbing on the sway bar. How can I fix this?

maybe another 1/4 to 1/2" drop?

The Stage 2 Suspension for the MINI Cooper S adds an adjustable 19mm rear anti-roll bar to the springs, struts and shocks included in the Stage 1 system...

I do not think that your adjustable rear sway bar has locating washers on the bar to help keep the bar from moving off to one side. So it could be that the bar has just moved to one side and you can push it back the other way to get it centered. Hopefully it is not bent.
You can try to move the bar with the car on the ground or with both rear wheels lifted up. If you just lift one side the bar will be loaded against the bushings and the bar will not move/slid in the bushings.
You can see in the link/picture of the Alta sway bar how it has locating washers on the bar, towards the bend. This locates the bar at the bushing mounts.

Interesting. Thanks I will check it out.
You probably won't be able to slide the bar from side to side through the bushings without a long prybar, which will be challenging without a lift. Moreover, the swaybar will just move back to where it wants to sit, and smash into the spring. The problem is that the swaybar has the wrong shape and will never fit. I haven't seen that particular swaybar in our shop, but I have experienced bars that are ill fitting. There's nothing you can do but put a proper bar in the car.
