Tried to do my own bushings... FAIL

I ordered the powerflex control arm bushings last week and was ecstatic when they came on saturday, but the people who were supposed to help either flaked or wouldnt answer their effin phone! So i was like EFF THIS, and grabbed a BRO and we went to tackle the task oursleves... Neither one of us knew what we were doing..
Ok so we attempted to remove the subframe, i understand there is a way to do it without dropping the thing entirely but we couldnt even get that far.. We took out all of the looong bolts and even the bottom motor mount and it still wouldnt budge.. I read in the Haynes book and it said disconnect the steering column but i really didnt even know what that was.. Finally threw the white flag and the shop tech came and said there were bolts to the rack mount which were tight still and such... I guess ill just wait until i replace my rack to do the bushings...

Bushings are literally the worst. Getting to them is hard enough, but once you have the old one out, pressing the new one in is soooo hard.

Save your money and pay someone to do the work for you. Like a shop. Sounds to me like a problem waiting to happen.

Personally I just know my limitations and doing what you are attempting is something I wouldn't tackle.

But that's just me. Plus I like a warranty on the workmanship.

I cannot do this for you or even lend a helping hand, but I am reasdy to answer any questions. I've done this work a dozen times...about 3 hours each time set-up to clean-up in my driveway. You may have to allow yourself 5 hours...get coffee and have a little fun while doing the job. It's actually an easy job that looks much, much worse. It does take patience, apragmatic approach and attention to detail. Most of us are capable of all of those for at least 3 hours

You will need torque specs, I don't have them anymore...these are vital! you will need ramps, two pieces of 2x4 nailed/screwed together and a hydraulic jack...and a torque wrench...and coffee.

The only way to do this job properly is to remove the subrame. Then you can replace swaybar bushings, and lower control arm ball joint...steering rack bushing too - powerflex - and inner tie rods if your car is old.
