Not sure where you live, but our club's mechanic who specializes in MINI's and BMW's is in the middle of installing a kit into a wide body R53.

You can call them or stop by if your in the area.

Just FYI. Greasy's had to do a rear seat delete to get it to fit into the R53.

its a clubman, but still a good read on air suspension if you go through it all. its been done to a few r53's, mainly across the pond, but it has been done. as i understand it, it's a pretty tough job. and im not sure about that kit, but i know from reading the thread i linked that for a lot of the systems you will have to remove your rear swaybar due to clearance issues. honestly on the r53 it doesn't seem worth it, considering you can pretty much lay frame with v-maxx c/o's, and 15's...

coilovers are alot cheaper than an air ride system but i have a reason. i live on a really bumpy dirt road and it would be nice to lift it when im driving on it then drop it when i get on the good roads.

well i guess if that's what you want to do. but also be aware that changing the ride height at all seriously affects your alignment. Rally from that thread i posted doesn't drive the car all the way lowered, im not sure air suspension is supposed to be driven on fully lowered. But aside from rubbing issues and scraping issues and having no suspension fully lowered, he also has -6 degrees rear camber . if it's what you want to do, it's what you want to do. But to me it just seems like more of a cruise-mobile thing. I could see doing it on a 1960's chevy impala, just doesnt seem right on a little r53... but to each his own.
