and the modding process begins!

hey guys bought my 02 justa back in august with about 95k on the clock. shes almost up at 100 now. sports, cold weather, and premium packages.
ive always loved the clean smooth look of the first gen MINIs i love the car the way it is but sometimes theres deals and offers you cant refuse. so why not start modding =D

just picked up SPAX coilovers 17inch Slites 19mm rear sway and front strut bar for FREE!! love my MINI friends!

im thinking i may wait to drop the car because with snow right around the corner and this bone chilling cold its going to be hard to get work done in the driveway.
the sway and strut bars are already in and even with those i feel a big difference in handling! cant wait to feel the coilovers do work.

im thinking about making the 17s my winter wheels, only because my 16'stars have fairly new spring/summer tires on them. im gonna slap the 17s on later this week and drive around and see how i feel about them

also im trying to get a hold of a nice after market exhaust and CAI i think the megan or brullen cat back and ALTA CAI.

back in the summer

I recently put a CAI on my s. it really livened up the car a ton! If i had a normal cooper, i would have gone for the K&N filtercharger intake.
And, i would go for this exhaust:
http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...r_exhaust.html

I'd say go for those, as i've heard bad things regarding the alta intake. And why cheap out on the exhaust when you can get a magnaflow for a very decent price? Good job getting those items! i wish i was able to get free stuff for my mini! But ya, i'd start with those, and the stuff you got. Maybe get a sprint booster next, thats next on my list after exhaust and some suspension stuff

well the brullen exhaust is something like 800 new and 300 isnt a bad asking price. specially since he is local and no shipping will be involved

i dont have much money being 17 and working just part time, and that 300 dollar limit is a gift to me. so idk im still unsure, the brullen does sound very nice tho

just dropped the strut bar in what a difference!
bad pic but you get the idea

Oh, i wasn't aware you had one already picked out. well that sounds great! Im not familiar with that exhaust but it sounds better than the magnaflow, considering its asking price.

i'd say go for it! Not sure what to tell you as far as advice for buying an aftermarket exhaust, but id just say look on the outside, make sure theres no holes in it or anything.

Awsome!!
One observastion...for winter rims, you would be better served with the 16's or even 15's...
One big pothole on a rough winter road..and you can blow a tire. I guess free/nearly free is cheap, but there is a bigger selection if winter tires in the 15&16 sizes for less $$. Heck you might be able to trade the rims...

yea i was thinking the exact same thing. th eproblem is on my current 16s new tires were purchased in the spring. so they have a ton of life left! the wheels i jsut got two of them are bald and two of them are about 70% left. i rather not have to take my summer tires off my 16s and then pu them back on later. either way the new wheels need new tires.

im looking for another pair o f16s but not something MINI, i want an aftermarket wheel. something that looks good when lowered or stretched or a wheel with more of a lip.

i really do like how the 17s look tho

You may need a rubber mallet to break those back ones loose. The back rims on my 02 used to get pretty stuck down also. I would usually just remove the lugs completely then grab opposite sides of the tire and pull/push in an opposing fashion which would work most of the time. The rest of the time - rubber mallet.

Congrats and welcome to the MINI world!
