A Tire Question

HI,

I got a 2007 R56 with H&R springs. The thing is lowered pretty much to the ground. It has the JCW Double Spoke Black Rims 18 inch. I changed the front tires to 225/40/18 that tire is massive and looks great, but when i turn the steering wheel completely to one side it seems to rub with a plastic cover it has inside the bumper. I just need a little tiny bite of clearance.

Has anyone had issues with this? How can I solve it?

Thanks

Plenty of us have rubbing issues to various degrees. It's not a big deal depending on what you are rubbing on.

1) Let it rub until it self-clearances.
2) Go back to stock height (you're not as low as you think if you are only on springs).
3) Go to a smaller tire size.
4) Install the JCW steering stops.
5) Stop turning when you hear it start rubbing.

Tyler: Steering stops are a cheap fix for the rubbing at full lock that lowering and wider tires often cause. They restrict the turning angle to full lock, thus preventing the tire from ever reaching the point where it would otherwise rub. The downside is that they also increase the turning radius of the car.

If you notice he has a '07 newer body style. Are the JCW stops available for them. I have no idea and you may be spot on. Just wanted to mention it incase it was missed.

Why don't you ask your question in the R56 forums?

Yes, the stops are available for the R56. See the PDF linked in this article for the part number: http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/10/...ring-stop-diy/
