Suspension StopTech kit installed
StopTech kit installed
A couple of weekends ago I installed a StopTech stage 2 kit from OutMotoringhttp://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...brake_kit.html
The kit install was shockingly easy due to the massive amount of info this community has accumulated. I can't say THANK YOU enough times!
The only problem I bumped into during the install was one of the StopTech banjo bolts sheared while torquing it to the spec they provided. Fortunately we kept the factory bolts & used one to get me back on the road. I'm keeping a careful eye on it. I've written to StopTech about a replacement but haven't heard back from them yet.
I decided to go with ATE Super Blue instead of the Motul in the pics. If anyone is looking for 3 unopened 500ml bottles of Motul, shoot me a PM, I'll give a good price on them & an even better one if you are a Baltimore/DC local who can meet up.
While everything was torn apart I also replaced all the torx set screws, pad clips and sensors with replacements from PenskeParts.
The pads were fully bedded in and have been fantastic.
Unfortunately my good DSLR camera was in the shop so I couldn't do a full on photo set. However I figured I'd at least share my phone pics.
Here is the kit from OutMotoring

Now this is a thing of beauty.

Everything installed. You can just see the slots peeking out.

The sheared Banjo bolt

Thanks again to NAM for all the awesome documentation & how-to's. I wouldn't have been able to do this myself if it hadn't been for all of you.

There isn't really any noise difference unless you do hit them really hard at highway speed. And then it's just this soft whirr kind of sound from the slots. I've heard similar sounds on other cars with slotted rotors.
The improvement in stopping power & the absence of fade has been fantastic. Those AXXIS ceramic pads are superb.
