Bilstein HD Install

So I got my Bilstein HD's in last night.
They're going in tomorrow..

I've already done the springs myself on the car about a year and a half ago. Anybody who's installed the Bilsteins have any tips? I don't imagine it should be much different than when I took the struts/shocks out for the spring swap. Everything gets disassembled and replaced in the same order, except its the new HD strut instead of the stock one.

Did anybody trim their bumpstops? I know the HD's have internal bumpstops.. so should we still include the OEM front bumpstops into the struts? If we aren't supposed to put them back in, then that would null my first question about trimming them.

Thanks in advance! In return, I should have a decent writeup on the install.

Don't need the front bumpstops, I left in the rears and did not trim them, doesn't appear to be a problem. Rears don't have internal stops. Good luck.

front bumpstops

Have my HD installed last week by my mechanics and the front bumpstops were not installed due to the piston diameter used in the HD was much bigger than stock. It took them almost 3hrs to install/wheel alignment.

That is a nice Mini. I was hoping you had some gallery pics. Off topic: How do you like that AEM intake? They were advertising on Craig's list for doner cars only about a month ago. I dropped by and they said they had an 08 in testing already (maybe yours). How do you like it?

Here are some older ones with the old wheels

Now with the Konigs

AEM intake is good, no need to worry about the oil situation anymore, as it was messing with my MAF before. I'd suggest going with it, if you want to go aftermarket. In reality, i'd like to go with my stock box, but with my tune it was acting really funny with the stock intake (since it was dyno tuned with an aftermarket).

BostonR56,

Where did you get the Billy hD's from. I was told they are on a national backorder. (at least that's what Turner Motorsports told me)

They also told me the same 4 weeks after telling me it'd be a 1 week shipping delay. I called Bav Auto and they had one more set left... so I jumped on it. Otherwise its supposed to be february. I'd give BavAuto a call.
