Doing a job soon and replacing some engine mounts, engine bushings, and control arm bushings. I'd like to address everything that needs to be addressed at that time.

Have MINIs had very many issues with the steering rack mount bushing?

How much more work is it to replace it at the same time all of the above work happens?

Thinking of replacing it with a Powerflex bushing:

Any response? I assume the lack of response indicates few problems out there...

 

i never had a problem with that bushing, however i did replace it with a powerflex when my steering rack was changed. I couldnt tell you if it made any kind of difference or not I just like polyurethane

 

It isn't worth it IMO. Consider the stock one is only 1/8" thick on that ONE side mount, and that the other side of the rack is bolted directly to the subframe.

I have the powerflex in mine, no reason other then "while I was in there" and noticed ZERO difference.

 

I've sold several of the powerflex steering rack bushings, but haven't had any customers return feedback or complain. I've got one on the race car, but can't tell you I noticed, but since I had the rack unbolted it was a cheap mod.
