Welding Alta PSRS?

I got some nasty rattling noises in the front of my car...someone told me it was the PSRS and that its a common occurance and that what happens is the set screws on the end of the control arm come lose and the control arm gets a lil play thus creating the problem.

Well someone told me I should weld (A good tack or 2) around the inside of the sleeve to the control arm. I was curious if anyone else has done this or heard of this before I zap them up in my garage.....

Most of the PDX MINI Club members throw a few tacs on it during installs at their tech days. Mine on my GP are tac'd. Just know that if you ever want to go back to stock for some reason you need new arms.

Well I zapped those on psrs. And I still get a rattle out of the driver side psrs by shaking it by hand. Any ideas what I could do to fix it or am I SOL?

I've had several customers have to weld them, but sometimes they are still noisey. It's just the design of them.

I had the Alta PSRS bushings on my (2) MINI's. They worked fine at first and lasted about 18-24 months and then developed rattles and became very noisy. Did not weld them so they both were easily replaced by PowerFlex bushings. No more noise.

I am running the PSRS too (Over 40k miles on them) I ordered replacement bushing inserts from Alta. About to go out and replace them. I'll let you know how it turns out!

I had the Alta PSRS for about 10 months & 20k miles. Just recently went to the powerflex and could not be happier.

Powerlfex seems to be the only way to go, and unless you track your car every weekend the trade off just isnt there.
