i've lowered my mini and just recently the front has been making noise when i go over bumps or when the suspension is active in a turn. i think it's coming from teh front end sway bar. i looked behind the wheels and noticed that my endlinks locking nut was not tightened meaning that the endlink length has probably changed since the car's been lowered

my guess is the endlinks either need to be lengthed or shortened (i'm guessing shortened), but wanted to see if anyone else has run into a problem like this, what they did about it, and if i'm moving in the right direction.

If the locking nut is not tight, that is the source of the problem. Your link will be fine, just jack up the front end and tighten the links. My car is lowered with stock front bar and links.

 

If you lowered the car with springs, such as 1" or so and did not drop it something like 2" with coil springs, then your stock end links will be fine. As go mini go stated just tighten them up and you will be good.

It is best for your sway bars to be parallel to the ground so some people will get adjustable end links to adjust the bars to be parallel after lowering. Also the adjustable end links are usually stronger so some people change to adjustable when installing a thicker sway bar which could put more stress on the end links.

 

If your links are good, then next stop is the sway bar bushings on top of the subframe. That's where my clunk was coming from.

 

yeah i guess i should have mentioned the car is slammed on coilovers and 15's. and the endlinks are adjustable. i had read somewhere that the endlinks should be set while the car is on the ground and it's super tight to access the endlinks so i just want to make sure i'm on the right track

You are correct the end links should be adjusted while the car is sitting on the ground, so there is no p reload on the bar. Make sure the end links are tight.

If the car is slammed, this can adversely affect the handling of the car, it has such short travel to begin with. I would try to make sure the front control arms are level with the ground.

 

yeah the car is getting raised a little soon, the car looks amazing but its just not practial and while the car feels better in turns i don't think it's cornering limits are as high as they were or could be
